Dallas isn't really part of Texas, so I say Texas.

IF Dallas is in Texas, I'd say...Oh, crap.

I hate the stupid senate, so I'm not a big USA guy. Screw the stupid constitution. Burn that thing. Death to the eastern seaboard hegemony.

Good question. I'd have to answer that being from a certain country is nothing one can really be proud of, since it is not an achievement, but a coincidence that you were born there.

You can still cherish things like cultural values, or historical achievements or something, though. Or feel fortunate that you have hot chicks in your state.

    Or something :).

Being proud of where/to whom you were born is like being proud of having two nostrils.

Have you ever considered that a birthday party is really just a celebration of demarked survival?

Oh...I feel the same about this poll. I feel pride should only be felt about things that you effected, even if by something as simple as a choice. Where you were born didn't happen because of you, it happened to you.

I am proud it rained today.

I am a definite part of where I am from, and where I am from is a definite part of me. That's where the pride stems from. To say there is no connection is shallow-minded.

Exactly. Some of you people are missing the point. It's more about the values, traditions and culture of a place, and being a part of that of which people are proud. Not simply being born in a geographic region.

Country! I am proud of being American.

I don't really understand being proud of being from Texas, since most states are pretty much the same. If I moved to Florida would my life change much?

    Yep.

I'm proud of the Rockets, even though I don't play for them, and the only reason I root for them is because they were the logical team to follow growing up in Texas.

I'm proud of my culture, even though I was born into it.

There are other examples I'm sure.
