The Rockets could learn a lot from the Mavericks.

    Dadakota,

You watch the Mavs for this one series and all of a sudden they are the type of team the Rockets should strive to be? It doesn't hurt that they are going up against a horrible transition defense team in the Jazz. Their offense is similar to the Rockets in that they ISO ALOT, so I don't see your point about how they play basketball the way it should be played. As for Nash, guy was getting booed by his own fans as recently as last year. It's about time he started playing well, and spare me the he was injured excuse. Also, he doesn't hustle anymore than any other player on that team. Am I supposed to interpret Nash and Howards emotionless play as classy and admire it?

The one thing I like about the Mavs is their fastbreak, because they run as a team, unlike the Rockets who only have 2-3 players on the break most of the time. That's the only things I wish the Rockets would take from the Mavs game.

  3. um....
let them get out of the first round first, better yet let them win a title first before we take anything from them, they could teach us how to go on a shopping spree and win it all by having an all-star team out there...

    OR.....

we can do it like we did it with our first two......u know Olajuwon, and Drexler, were our only stars, it tastes soooooo much better that way

Although I live in Dallas I am not a Mavericks fan. But, I have to give their owner credit for turning things around...

You can say what you want about them as a team; but Mark Cuban is doing whatever it takes to win and you have to respect that...

Now has for learning something for team ball I would say to take a look at San Antonio or Sacremento....

I'm with DaDakota on this one.

Fire, passion and emotion are great positive qualities but uncontrolled they become debilitating. IMHO, if the Rocks were playing this series, Malone, Sloane, & Stockton would have figured out a way to turn the passionate play into a Rockets' distraction.

Isn't it the Rockets mantra to "Stay humble..Stay hungry...."? That's what I saw in the Mavs last night when they walked off the floor. The fire was in their eyes, but they controlled their body language.

    Go Rockets...Playoffs 2002!!!!!!

Let's make Raef LaFrentz a Rocket for 2001-2002.

The Mavericks who have spent the last ten years losing horribly to get to this point are finally having a nice little run. Good for them. The Rockets make the playoffs like every year for ten years, go to the western conference finals a couple of times, you know, two championships, and we have two years of rebuilding where the second year is a !45! win season.

Besides we OWN the mavericks, even though we tied the series 2-2, we should have won that one game with Hakeem going off except for those calls. But still we beat the with like MO, Kenny, Hakeem out, we beat the with our eyes closed, and our hands behind are backs.

I agree with Clutch, we went with the old Ottoman empire, they went for everything else...hehehe...

I am rooting for them, as much as I hate Dallas the city and the team, because come on, I want to see Bradley break Karl Malone's nose so he has to wear one of those masks when he plays and shoots his "Wild game".

I have to give Dallas some credit. I didn't think they would get out of the first round. They got a tough win tonight. Their next series is going to be interesting. I think the twin towers will be too much for them though.

I don't know how you guys can blame Dallas for stinking the last decade, that was a different owner who didn't care about the team. As soon as they got an owner who actually CARED about the team and the fans they are winning. And now they are out of the first round. I agree DaDakota, the Rockets can learn a lot from the Mavs as they grow. I also don't think Bradley is as bad as people say either. All the Mavs ask of Bradley is to rebound, block shots, and score garbage points and he does that well. Basically he is doing what Ostertag was supposed to do, but he is doing it much better. I wish Cato grabbed 7+ boards, blocked shots, played defense, and, you know, actually played with some heart and desire all the time!

Before we drafted Hakeem & got RT to coach, I remember us sucking for about a decade. But we souldn't try to play like we did in '94/'95 cause we sucked before that.
    WTF???? That arguement is lame.

Where are the Maverics now?....second round of the playoffs
    Where are the Rocks?.....vacation

Right now they're playing with a lot of heart and faith in each other. Remind you of anyone a few years back?????

    Smeggy,

    Or perhaps "their" day.

It pains me to see how some of you think the Rockets have ALWAYS been good. They were 15-67 the year before they got Ralph Sampson, and then the were 29-53 the next year...both of them the conference or league worst.

So don't give me crap about how the Rockets were great for 10 years if you are too young to remember the WHOLE history of this franchise.

Youth is wasted on the young !!! BAH !!

RR, I didn't mean to imply that the Rocks suck because we're not in the playoffs. I don't think we need to blame it on injuries, or the refs, or any other thing that we cannot control. We are rebuilding, and doing a damn fine job of it. I didn't honestly expect to make the playoffs this year (although I always have hope). IMHO we are way ahead of schedule.

As far as Dakota's arguement....hell, there's a lot of teams the rocks can learn from.

All I'm saying is that the past really has no revelance to the here and now, or the future for that matter. Hell, the clips have sucked for as long as I can remember. As I recall, they moped the floor with our asses on more than one occasion this season.

Plus, I always like rooting for the underdog...as long as they're not playing the rocks!!

I guess my thing is it's a trivial matter
but honestly. . . the Mavs Can learn a few things
    from the ROCKETS!

Everyone can learn from each other.

Oh hell yes! I'll agree w/ that.

For one thing every team can learn the fast track to rebuilding (i.e.: Bulls). And our front office IMO is one of the best.
