I think they started calling offensive fouls on harden when they noticed he had that in his arsenal.. he adjusted but I think gobert might have made him forget about that shot
Hate to break it to you, but your memory has failed you. The last 20 seasons have seen a steady DECLINE in league wide free throw rate. The last 2 seasons are easily the lowest in the last 20 years. The 90s and early 2000s were free throw parades compared to now. Our free throw rate during our last title was more than any D’Antoni coached Rockets team.
I keep seeing the Gordon drive last year where he got assaulted with no call. Still can’t get over that crap.
You should have also pointed out his "open floor" comment. The game utilizes the "open floor" more than ever. What a bizarre post. I miss the old days of the 1950s where houses were bigger and we had more open floorplans. LOLWUT
I'm talking 80s and early - mid 90's... when sure you had fouls - bc u had enforcers out there who knocked people on their butts for daring to drive in the paint - and the fouls werent questionable - they were a message... guys werent playing to get a forearm to their forehead... lol
The 80s were no different then the 90s. Significantly higher free throw rates than now. So, no, players back in the day were not scoring more on the “open floor” compared to now. The league is getting to the line WAY less than before.
Or........continuous 24 sec violations... we can just dribble around Globetrotter style. That should entertain Silver and the folks at home since our style of play is soooooo boring... #FuqSilver
Yeah... Exactly, and I don't watch wrestling, so..... Hahah, hopefully something insane happens and the Rockets win the series but... I felt a lot more confident until I rewitnessed worse than normal "playoff fouls" you know, silly to think it'd be any different.
This is what happened in Game 7 last year. Rockets were dead cold from three. They started driving to the basket, and got completely hammered with no foul calls. Nobody ever mentions this, but it happened. That was the moment I knew there was a fix in. That's why they ended up going "0 for 27" from three. They limped back behind the arc and waited for death to come. I think the solution is for everyone to have a floater. That shot is nigh unguardable. It's not the easiest, but it's easier than trying to force threes down when you're off or trying to thread a needle through the rim protectors for a layup. PJ has a floater. I always wonder how he's going to score if he doesn't get his corner three, but he does indeed have that and has used it successfully several times. Everyone should have one, even if it's not great. And if the defenders do pull away from the rim to guard it, there's a hole there now. The floater is quite easily turned into a lob at the last possible second. I don't have any other solutions when you can't hit threes and can't drive because you'll just get pummeled with nothing to show for it.
