Trump should give the award to himself, we have learned so much from him after all

Maybe Trump should congratulate the second place teacher of the year.

It’s remarkable how trump continues to find new ways to prove he’s an uncaring, unfeeling ass.
Someone probably told him that President Obama handed these out and that’s all it took.

Eh - of all the things to complain about, this isn't one. It's complaining about stuff like this that normalizes his behavior and makes people tune out the legit complaints. From the article:

She said that while U.S. presidents have often given out the award, the group is aware of at least nine other instances when someone else — such as the vice president or first lady — has done so. The award program started in 1952.

When it comes to trump expect the worse. The troll is completely void of any sense of common human decency. He’s the ooze from ghostbusters 2. He feeds off hate and decisiveness.

It’s merely one of countless things worth complaining about, Major. It bothers me because I have numerous members of the family involved in education, past and present. Getting the award form DeVos is insulting. At least trump pretends to be president. In all honesty, whoever is getting the award this year is likely relieved that he or she isn’t getting it from the creature.

Has DeVos done anything? seems like she does nothing, which is what i want from my ed secretary since the people who get those jobs never come from an education background and are just buddies with the president. I haven't noticed any changes at least this school year for me (i teach high school).

I mean, sure, you can complain about it. But you're just muddying your bigger message and tuning out people - complaining about stupid things gives people reason to just roll their eyes instead of listening.

This award has been given by non-Presidents many times in the past. Do you know who gave them and when? Were you insulted by all those Presidents? The teacher probably doesn't even want Trump (or Devos) there, so I'm not sure why we'd want Trump there so he can stay something stupid or insult someone? Any event that Trump is NOT at seems like a good thing to me.

What? The last 4 Education secretaries prior to Devos:

Biographical Information: King was born on Jan. 5, 1975, in Brooklyn, N.Y. Orphaned at a young age, King credits his New York City public school teachers at P.S. 276 in Canarsie and Twain J.H.S. in Coney Island with saving his life by giving him hope for the future. He received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, a master’s degree in the teaching of social studies from Teachers College, Columbia University, a law degree from Yale Law School, and a doctorate in educational administrative practice from Teachers College. King joined the Education Department in 2015 .

Biographical Information: Duncan was born Nov. 6, 1964, in Chicago, and attended the University of Chicago Lab Schools. After graduating from Harvard University, Duncan spent four years playing professional basketball in Australia before begining his career in education. Duncan was part of the founding team of the Ariel Community Academy in Chicago before serving as CEO of the Chicago public school system from 2001 to 2008. Duncan served as the education secretary for most of President Barack Obama’s two terms.

Biographical Information: Spellings was born in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Nov. 30, 1957, and then moved to Houston, Texas, with her family when she was in elementary school. She graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Spellings launched her political career in Texas, working as a lobbyist for the Texas Association of School Boards, and then as a senior adviser to Gov. George W. Bush. Prior to serving as the education secretary after Bush was elected to his second term as president, she was his White House adviser on domestic policy.

Biographical Information: Born Roderick R. Paige in Monticello, Miss., on June 17, 1933, he is the son of public school educators. Paige earned a bachelor’s degree from Jackson State University and a master’s degree and a doctorate in physical education from Indiana University. Before beginning his career in education administration, he was a college football coach for two decades. Paige became superintendent of the Houston Independent School District in 1994 and was known for his successful leadership and innovative reforms as head of the large district.

Only Spellings didn't have some kind of an education policy background.

I mean like actual classroom experience, teaching experience (something relevant to the job). Maybe someone who was a teacher, then admin, then district so they actually have a clue and you don't get crap like paying for test scores.

I'm in education and it doesn't bother me one bit. To be fair, I feel the same way about all these ridiculous awards being given out. They should save themselves some trouble and give the reward recipient a check in the amount that it would cost to run one of these monkey shows.

Yet again........ liberals waste tax dollars giving out awards. That money should be given back to the tax payers. I really hope the award isn't presented during regular school hours.
