Can someone tell me what BYC means and why we would have to wait until the summer (in reference to Steve)

BYC? Base Year Contract?

As in the salary increases every year? Not sure what else it entails...

Why do these writers think that the Rockets would trade their best player for a guy they could get without losing anything in the offseason? If you're going to make up bullsh*t rumors hoping they stick, atleast make them realistic...

What a terrible trade. Good thing it's unlikely to happen. Whatever you think of Francis - his value almost had to be higher than a guy who'll bout out of contract.

And the Mo Taylor for Terry part of the deal? Wtf. Why would Houston trade one 2 guard who shouldn't play the 1 for another one... who would seemingly be the 1 in Houston ?

I think its all hype just to get Francis more involved...By downgrading him he will learn that VG is no coach to be messing with...

I don't think a trade is going to happen this season, i think management will see how far this team can go this season and then make changes in the offseason. Though a trade for Francis + Pike/nachbar for Allen/daniels sounds good at anytime.

Steve isn't going anywhere. I doubt we even make a deal. We are close to making the playoffs. If we make a trade, we probably won't make the playoffs.

GIVE THIS TEAM A CHANCE. If you would of told me last summer that we would be in 6th place in the West at this point of the season, I would consider this season a success. We do not need to make a deal because of the folllowing:

1) Steve has improved as a PG. He is not there yet but we need to give him at least a year under JVG.

2) Cuttino has improved but he too isn't there yet. He has improved many facets of his game but he freezes Yao out of the offense more than any other player.

3) Yao has improved but he has not been consistent. Next year will be Yao's year. I expect him to be the premier player in the game next year.

4) We still do not have the right complement of players on the bench. I think we will put together the right bench next year to compete for a championship.

WE NEED TO REMAIN PATIENT! WE DO NOT NEED TO MAKE A DEAL!

C'mon guys let's face it. Only JJ is having a consistent game. If you see your leader (SF) making some stupid mistakes, everyone else follow.

That makes JJ an exception though. He can handle himself very well. He's got focus. He is a veteran.

Wallace? Hmmn, I don't think he's got the drive to go into championships. I would rather go with Mo, go with Mo, go with Mo.

Stevie is improving? He can still fly... but if he continues to dribble the ball excessively, this team ain't going nowhere. Don't you notice his style? He spends 5 seconds or more to make a play for himself, to get away from his defender and shoot.. if he can't find a chance, he decides to pass the ball. And if he can't find an open guy because at this point the defense gives more pressure as they know time expires, either he's forced to shoot or make a bad pass ( turn-over).. This happens at least twice in every rockets game.

...t his simply affects the morale of the team, causing others to
... you know..

AI can pass...

opps, i just heard cuttino playing for the celebs...

gone.

the media read alot of these post on clutch city .net and other houston article.they are just tring to jar francis away from the rockets because they want to see a trade go down so they can have somthing to talk about.and iam sure they are curious about how the pieces would fit.

----minute they say the pieces dont fit the next minute we are blowing the other team out .dont listen to every thing you hear read or see in the media.

reminds me when warren moon was here and we(most of you not me)for codet carson .some of you all need to be kicked in the butt.

I don't think that JVG "publicly squashed" Francis at all. I bet he wouldn't have said a thing about it to the press if they didn't ask, but of course they're going to ask him why he suspended him.

Exaggeration and drama. I'm sure both JVG and Steve were both upset for their own reasons, but they are human beings and can move on. Media guys blow this crap way out of proportion to make news. There was a hell of a lot more to quote in the Shaq/Kobe 'fued', but where is that now? Nowhere. They moved on.

JVG may indeed want to move Francis to make the team better, and if it happens that will probably be this summer. But he isn't going to move him because there was a little spat about the frikkin superbowl. This ain't sh** compared to what he dealt with in the New York media every month.

The Rockets wouldn't be open to a tampering charge by contacting Wallace's agent at this point in time?

Terry has BYC status on his contract.
I am trying to think of a Sham NBA trade that was done in the past.

Way too many hoops to jump through for the above scenario to happen.

The Rox should sit firm till the end of the season! Possibly they are only making early considerations, in preperation for an off season move.

Before anything happens with Francis, Les, CD, and JVG need to pick up the phone and call Jerry Buss.
If Kobe is at all available, either now or in the summer, that is plan A, B, C...you get the point.
I would love for the Rockets to deal Mobley/Cato for ESnow and a real PF as part of the Philly firesale. Then, in the offseason, ship Francis to LA as sign-and-trade for Kobe.
Just imagine:
Yao and Kobe
Kobe and Yao
I think I might cry, I'm so happy just dreaming about it.

I'd rather have Ben Wallace than Rasheed Wallace

Francis + Cato + Taylor
to Detroit for
Wallace + Milicic + Atkins + Sura + Williamson

ROCKETS
SF: JJackson + Williamson
PF: Wallace + Weatherspoon
C: Yao + Milicic
PG: Atkins + MJackson
SG: Mobley + Griffin

PISTONS
SF: Hamilton + Prince
PF: Taylor + Campbell
C: Cato + Okur
PG: Billups + Hunter
SG: Francis + Sura (cut after trade)
