Best what? Best in history, or best in the league? He first won MVP the year before Jackson took over, averaging 35 ppg on 53% shooting.

They didn't win a title Phil's first year as coach, then won 3, skipped 2 when MJ retired, then won 3 more. Hmmm.

... Do anyone still remember the predication from the media when Jackson took over the Lakers? Everyone was waiting for him to fail, but he brought them THREE titles in three years, instead....

Everyone was 'waiting' or 'expecting' him to fail? You gotta suck to fail with shaq and kobe.

    Everybody repeat after me:

JUST SAY NO TO PHIL. JUST SAY NO TO PHIL. JUST SAY NO TO PHIL. JUST SAY NO TO PHIL. JUST SAY NO TO PHIL.

There. You can move on to other threads now. :D

I almost stopped rooting for the Rockets when Pippin was on our team. I don't want to deal with that all over again.

If the Lakers replace Jackson, I'd see if Tex Winters or Jim Cleamons is interested in being a Rox assistant to Van Gundy. :D

May be Jackson's overrated, may be he can only win with contenders, but hey, isn't that what we need now? we have the talents, and we just need a little push from the back. Jackson can brings the best out of the best player. With the underachieving players we have now, I think Jackson is a good fit if he's available.

You know, I just had an interview, and one of the guys that interviewed me looked, acted and sounded like Phil Jackson. He was such a pompous, condesending snot, that it made me uncomfortable and irritated enough to blow off the rest of the day's tag team interviewing, and I honestly was relieved not to get it. Who wants to work for an ass like that? I didn't, and I wouldn't want my favorite team to, either.

I can imagine the real Phil Jackson is worse. As for his prowess as a coach...I know I'm in the minority but I thought Kurt Rambis was a decent coach for the Lakers and could have done as well as Chief Triangle given time and the right assistants. Give me Tex Winters and the best players in the game and see how many games I win...

I think he's good at being in the right place at the right time...no different than say...Robert Horry. We already got rid of one good coach. I think we should be glad we have another one now.

The only credit I can give him is that he might be able to get in Steve's head and get the most out of his play, but I think Van Gundy is doing well in that department as well.

Phil is a good coach but a GREAT manager..in the sense of manager/employee. He doesn't have the Xs and Os (all the credit goes to Tex Winter) and he's not someone that seems to make all the Lombardi-esque speeches but he manages players--ESPECIALLY hall of famers--well. With that said, no, he wouldn't fit ...or our team..wouldn't fit with him.
