A little off topic, but I didn't want to start a new thread for it, but does anyone remember that Steve Francis was talking about his long conversation with Oscar Robertson? Does anyone remember how Francis was taking into account everything Robertson was telling him, especially about getting the ball to the big man, and how it was Steve's job to get everyone involved? Yeah well I guess that went in one ear and out the other. I think with this coaching change and Steve obviously not getting his way with JVG at the helm, it has truly exposed Francis for the whining primadonna that he thinks he is. I mean by saying that your coach is gonna coach the way he wants to, and you're going to continue to play the way you're going to is very childish and self-centered. I'm a big fan of Steve Francis, but I'm starting to realize that he is putting himself before the team. Don't get me wrong, he has his nights where he buys into the team concept, but as soon as the shots of his teammates are not falling, Steve takes it upon himself to try to win the game single-handedly, which is an admirable trait as a leader, but he has to know when to get his teammates involved again. I get real tired of seeing Yao fight for position in the post and not get rewarded because Steve or Cuttino decide that an 18ft. jumpshot with 13 seconds left on the shot clock is more important than trying to get the ball down low to Yao. Steve needs to have more confidence in his teammates, especially Yao. I can understand if you come down the floor and get him the ball five straight times and he continues to miss from point-blank range, then think about taking a different shot or passing to someone else. But don't lose patience and confidence, the shot will fall, with a 7'6" giant in the paint, you have to take advantage of that. I used to think Steve was smart of enought to realize that getting the ball in Yao's hands would open up the offense. Unfortunately its starting to look like he is not as smart as I gave him credit for. As for the proposed trade, I really do not like it. Only from the standpoint that the PF next to Yao needs to be a Ben Wallace-type player. Emeka Okafor looks like that type of player but unless a catastrophe happens the Rockets will be in no position to draft him. Thats why Eddie was so important, I think he would've eventually filled that role, but thats another story. If Francis is going to be traded, it should be during the offseason where JVG can start carte blanche with the team in training camp nt during the middel of what will be an attempted salvage project of a playoff run.
This thread just made me realise I still love this boy. Don't go Steve, you are still the leader of this team.
Yeah, what Man said. I mean, its all good to talk about trading Steve but this really bothers me. Irregardless of the actual legitamacy of the rumor, I trust NYCRR when he says he's heard something. I still contend that is foolish to deal Steve now. I don't see Randolph adding anything more than what Cato and MoTay collectively do. I don't watch Snow play point so I will withhold judgement. Well, analysis aside, the reality is, I'm just not ready for Steve to go. Not yet.
Is it me, or has this non-word been rearing it's head in here with great regularity in the past few days?
If we can get Randolph and Snow for Steve I would be very tempted to make the trade even with Zach's problems because he is a very talented PF. Portland wouldn't gain too much and I doubt it if this is going to happen. ROCKET RICH NYC was right on the Moochie/Weatherspoon trade but like he mentioned it's just a rumor. Thanks for letting us know what possibly could be out there RRNYC.
People are fighting for it's acceptance Main Entry: ir·re·gard·less Pronunciation: "ir-i-'gärd-l&s Function: adverb Etymology: probably blend of irrespective and regardless nonstandard : REGARDLESS usage Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that "there is no such word." There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance.
Right, yet as the thread progressed people seemed as if they werent sure if it was legitimate or not. Which was why I pasted a link so they could read the quote in context of the article. It was a reiteration of what was said in the beginning of the post, I was just more or less rehashing it.
Remember what Portland management said after the Sheed trade? They said something like "we're fulfilling our promise to fans that we want to clean the team's image" or something like that. So it is perfectly reasonable for Portland to do a trade that ships out Randolph, even if they loose something. The worse the character of Randolph, the more likely this is going to happen. I don't know about Randolph, but from what you guys are saying about him, looks like he is quite a bad a**...... Besides, portland management won't feel too bad about loosing him. To them, Randolph is just a surprise bonus this season, especially if they had already made up their mind about trading his a** away before this season even started. That's my opinion on Portland's willingness to part with Randolph.
both pale in comparison to the use of the word "then" in place of the word "than." i.e. michael jordan is better then moochie norris. how that transition came to be, and it's only happened the last year and a half from what i've seen, i have no idea. i guess people just spell what they hear as they say it in their head instead of knowing how to spell.
I don't know if adding Francis would help in that regard. Of course, if thye get rid of Patterson, then it would be addition by subtraction.
Oh please... Francis may have had an occasion that didnt look good...but to insinuate that getting Francis would not improve the Blazers bad image is ludicrous. Comapred to the (Jail)Blazers, Francis is the Good Citizen of the Decade... You just showed either a) your ignorance..or b) your bias lets hope you are just biased against Francis.
Francis may be stubborn and not disciplined enough. But that's totally different from being a punk and a pot lover like some of those in POT-land.
