Dream should have had a farewell tour like D Wade or Dirk

$13 million for 3 years? that's cheap considering , Les made 2 billion dollar profit from selling the team.
And took the real trophies that Dream won.

And newbs, Dream was there BEFORE Les. Charlie Thomas was the owner.

This has really torn him apart," a source close to Olajuwon told the Chronicle. "Honestly, he did not want to leave until (Tuesday or Wednesday). He has something to prove. Everybody believed he was done. But he is not done."

A twelve-time All-Star in Houston, the Hall of Fame center didn’t get to end his career with one team, instead spending his final season north of the border. After rejecting a three-year, $13 million deal from the Rockets in August 2001, the 38-year-old was dealt to the Toronto Raptors for a first and second-round pick.

“‘Hakeem’s decision is disappointing for the entire Rockets organization,” Rockets owner Les Alexander said at the time.”Hakeem Olajuwon has meant more to this franchise and this city than any other athlete in Houston history.”

But that would mean we miss out on Kelvin Cato.

Sometimes you have to set aside your emotions and make the best decision for the team.

What about when rockhead saw Dream at Whole Foods and got him to admit "I'll be playing, but it won't be here!"

I think Dream said, "I'll be praying, but not here."

Worked out fine for clutchfans in the end though, given the outcome

I mean he was done though right. He retired after season 1.

Definitely would've loved a farewell tour for the Dream. But unfortunately he thought he had more years.

Dream wasn’t that type of farewell tour guy. I am not one for it either, it takes away the real focus of a team to win no matter what. These tours are distractions for fans, media, players, and teams.

To be fair watching Dirk's last game and the farewell afterwards was amazing.

The crowd staying back and the thank you from the crowd. Maybe one of the best things I've seen. Kobe too. Hakeem would've got that too as a one team player (if the move to somewhere in Canada didn't happen)

Wow. We got a first and second round pick for a 38 year old player with bad knees? CD making Morey moves and treating players like assets!

I just texted some friends today, “Double **** Les Alexander.”

Sick of seeing the Dirk stuff, and still sick to my stomach that Dream wasn’t treated right.

****ing **** Les Alexander. And **** Dan Fegan’s ass, too.

Yeah , he only had one year left.

Should have been with the Rockets.

That Steve Francis led team never won anything.

I’m actually a ‘99er. My account got deleted and had to recreate in 2001.

And by “got deleted”, I actually mean I deleted it because I was so pissed about the Dream thing. True story.

The day Dream was traded and the day Les fired Rudy. Two of the saddest sports days of my life.

Leslie can suck all the butt.

I rode in an elevator a year or so back with Charlie Thomas, and I told him how much better of an owner he was than Alexander’s wack ass.

    Pure.
