No, there isn't. There was a theory like that floating around, but it was floated only by Hillary conspiracy theorists and it was floated months ago. basso: Seriously doubt Edwards is high up on the 08 list if he isn't the VP candidate. He foolishly gave up his Senate seat and with it the microphone. I just can't imagine what he's going to do for the next four years to stay in the spotlight. But you should add Gore. And you should almost definitely take Powell off, unless you can find any evidence whatsoever that he'd change his position on running. I don't think you can. I don't really see Rice in there either. I know she's a popular choice, but she doesn't strike me as liking politics. I predict she'd play like Clark -- great on paper, lousy on the trail. Still no one owning up to the Dems for Bush, I see. Poof go the lying liars.
Sheesh I just said it was a theory. Anyway, if you guys elect Kerry then the Independent Party will have a Clinton and we could have our Independent Woman in office in 2008.
Truth hurts. The old Democrats as recently as the 1960's were vigorous about our nation's defense, but this new breed of those born out of the student radicalism of the 60's are anything but. Why is it that most of the opposition to most defense programs in the 1980's, the Persian Gulf War, properly funding our intel agencies and allowing them to do their vital work unhindered was from the Democrats? If that isn't damning, I don't know what is. It's not that I believe that the libs seek to deliberately allow our nation to be attacked, but that I believe they are naive in the means to protect it. I'd much rather have the culture of real politik (good old fashioned power politics) versus rampant and foolish idealism any day of the week. Didn't four years of Carter and eight years of Clinton teach us anything about the dangers of ridiculous idealism in our foreign policy. Both left us weakened and stunned against a mighty enemy when their misrules were done.
yeah, it's all just wishful thinking, no "proof," although i've been using the same "intelligence" services that prepared the NIE... still, i love the idea of a wide open race, with candidates from both wings of both parties beginning the race on equal footing. it's been along time since we've seen that happen.
I demand to see proof of the people who voted "Republican for Kerry". I want you all to hold your hands up. I am so arrogant that I do not believe that other people could conceivably disagree with me. I don't care about your anonymity in this polling process! I want to see names! Now! I order you to move to your computers, pull up this web page, and IDENTIFY yourself. And I want to see ALL of you, not just one or two. I won't believe just one or two. I demand to see all of you. If I don't see you, I will start singling people out randomly and calling them liars. Sincerely, Batman Jones
T_J, and I'm explaining this as though you'll be able to get it, the point is that ( I think) every other demographic in here has been owned up to by at least one. The only one which hasn't is the same one which Batman expressed doubts about very early on, and asked for someone to admit to same. The silence since has been deafening. He's never said that EVERY ONE should put their hands up...in fact, he's made it very easy to prove him wrong and make him look bad. He's asked for one or two, on the suspicion that the same kind of people who see this place as a psychological battleground might use the same sort of dementia with this poll. Sounds pretty reasonable to me.
serious: Yes, yes, except Joe doesn't post here. I already noted that we didn't have any Zell Miller types here that we know of, while we know of several Republicans who have expressed disappointment in Bush. Not a zero sum game, as I've said. And of course days have passed since I encouraged someone to make a fool of me by owning up to a D for Bush vote and of course the lying liars go poof. MacBeth already answered this latest attempt, but I wanted to address this one thing. There's only one person I'd specifically single out as a liar in this thread. We all know Jorge lied at least once when he said he voted I for Kerry (LOL. I can just see his poor little brain working, trying to figure out which lie to tell about his vote.). The only remaining question is whether he lied twice by also voting D for Bush. I'm guessing twice.
I'll say it again I can't believe Democrats think Kerry can beat Bush. It will be another close election but Bush will hold on in the South giving him another four years. So what if he won the Tennessee and Virginia primaries, do you think he will win the states in November? I can't wait till the Republicans pull out the Kerry was Lt. Governor under Dukakis. This election is going to be hilarious.
Smokey, all he has to do is win one state Gore didn't win last year, aside from a small state like New Hampshire. It's definitely possible, especially without a Nadar and a more unified Democratic party.
Furthermore, here was a chance for the Dem's to run a moderate outsider (Clark) or a relative newcomer to DC (Edwards) but instead they will run an old Dem who will do nothing. Put an "Al Gore" name tag on him, this one is done.
I completely agree. I think it's almost certain that one of the two will be the VP. I'd really like Clark however.
