This was an unexpected MVP season from Harden, so I'm not even mad (anymore). It's fun watching the media twist themselves into justifying why Giannis deserves the award over Harden. Some of these cats are even saying they might put this year's MVP over Harden's last MVP.. I know these guys have lost it stumping for Giannis.

Once again, the media has me rooting against a player I enjoy watching. I hope Giannis and the Bucks get ousted in the first round.

Miller hasn't voted for Harden three consecutive years.

He's jealous James is a much better SG than him, and should be stripped of his voting privilege.

no need to even count, we all know this is a wrap...Giannis won

this is some bullsh*t for real tho

Many in the media were proclaiming Giannis to be the best in the NBA after he dropped 45 on Philly. Where was that energy when Harden dropped a 44 point triple double @ Oracle with the game winner? Harden will get another Players’ MVP while the media gives Giannis his award as they continue their dickriding.

I could just sit here and say “well go win FMVP instead,” but after what I witnessed last year in game 7, if the league doesn’t want Harden and the Rockets to win, expect blatant 5 on 8.

Maybe a second seed will sway those on the fence.

Best player on that year's best team ... ehhh whatever.

You just wish they had that same energy Westbrook's year (Harden better player on the better team) or the same energy they had for Westbrook that year this year. (but but but historic! Never mind the 47 wins.)

There's just no set criteria, from year to year.

    Is is most valuable?
    Is it best player?
Is it the best player on the best team?
Is it the best story line/narrative?
Is it the guy you like & picked before the season so you're gonna stick with him?
Is it the guy who did something "historic"?

Some say let the players and/or coaches vote. You're gonna have guys playing favorites there too.

Harden could/should/would have 4 but definitely 3. Should be working on a 3peat. (Westbrook year, last year, this year)

I guess I am more optimistic when it comes to stuff like this. Harden has gotten better every year he has been in the league. There will come a time when Harden is so great he will just push through the corruption. We saw it in that GSW game at Oracle; the refs tried HARD and it just wasn't enough. The singularity is coming.

Harden and the Rockets are going to punch through at some point and it's going to be ULTRA satisfying.

Yeah, it was clear that Giannis would win by a landslide. I'll be surprised if Harden gets more than 15 first place votes this year, considering this was the number Lebron ended up with. I won't be surprised Harden gets around 5 third place votes.

The last two years we had 100 (+1 fan vote) total voters which means 15 1st place votes = < 15%. I'll only be shocked but not really if he earns less than Lebron of last year.

The media echo chamber is real. The more we as a fanbase can accept that this is a media award and it's the media that drives the narrative despite their attempts to having us believe it's the other way around, the quicker we'll come to realizing that we should be cheering our guys to flip the script and dictate the narrative by winning. It was just THIS season that some analyst on ESPN said that Kyrie was a better leader than Harden. One of the most prominent non-ESPN media members, Mr. Sauces, is still saying that Harden led his team to a bad early season record. No accountability whatsoever. Everyone has a job - these media members see SAS' $10million pay day and they want a piece of that pie, former player analysts notwithstanding.

The demand for defining "most outstanding" vs. "most valuable" vs. "best player in the world" vs. "best player in the world today" will increasingly grow. By time media members with TV time start coming together and settle on those distinctions, Harden will be out of his prime, CP retired, and House on another team not Houston.

We'll never be satisfied until we win. For those with money and in the local Houston area, please show up in the playoffs this year. It's the only way we can tangibly demand the same from our players.

media has made me start rooting for Westbrook and OKC’s demise, Giannis and Milwaukee’s demise, and next year I bet they’ll have me rooting for Embiid and Philly’s demise

all players I liked until the media started with their anti-Harden for MVP bullsh*t

Giannis entire unremarkable MVP campaign is based on people declaring him the MVP becuase, they declared that he was back in December.

That is the entirety of his case. It's a circular argument, Giannis is the MVP becuase the MVP is Giannis, not because he's better than Harden - obviously, he is not.

That's why you hear things like "you can't go wrong with either" before people come out for Giannis, because you have defend Giannis whose season is not historic, vs. Harden's historic season. But ultimately for Giannis to be the MVP, he needs it to be declared over and over and over again.

If Giannis were to win the MVP award, I want Harden to dribble by Giannis and break the Freak's ankles in the finals. And take the Larry O'Brien trophy with Giannis watching.

    Go Rockets!

Some of the voters already inserted their ballots. At this point even if Harden drops 82 on OKC in a win, he's not going to win.

You can sleep easy at night knowing Harden will have another MVP award robbed from him but at least we can look forward to the playoffs where he has to overcome his playoff demons.

It's not the media that has a dislike for Harden, but the general NBA fan. That's why it's even harder for him to win than anyone else.

Last year when Harden was the clear favorite, Lebron was only 100 points (700 vs 800) behind Harden in a race that shouldn't even have been close. That already tells you alot about how Harden will never win another MVP award. I wouldn't be surprised at all this year if some of the voters for Giannis don't even have Harden as their 2nd pick.

The NBA wants this award to be like the Oscars and much less about sports and more of drama and suspense. The winners aren’t declared until after the finals. The MVP and other awards are becoming more of popularity celebrity and media show.
