I always thought Olajuwan wasn't given the proper respect because he was an African Muslim. He chose to sell inexpensive shoes. He didnt want his image shown in video games. He just wasnt very marketable. The way Harden is being treated now makes me wonder what is really going on. Is it a Houston thing? Is it political? Is it the beard they don't like? I really don't get it. I don't think it's related to Houston because Tmac got plenty of attention despite his lack of playoff success. CP3 never gets any heat for his production to salary ratio. Maybe the beard makes Harden look like a foreign Muslim? I really think it's the beard as ridiculous as that may sound.
Honestly ppl care way too much about the past. Who cares about players who used to be good. That being said. How do you not know the dream? He played in the 90’s not the 60’s. I can’t believe this is even possible?
I think it is relevant in understanding the game and the position if you are 7'1. Its part of being prepared just like being in the weight room is. The greats watch a ton of footage, and dream is probably one of the best to try to understand footwork from. If you don't know who dream is as a center, you are likely not as prepared as the guy you're going up against.
Now this is the guy you give a poison pill contract to, to pry him away. Not Airemy Lin lol... Mitch is going to terrorize the paint by shutting it down. Natural shot blocker. He has the mobility to extend his defense to the 3 point line as well.
It's funny Joel Embiid found some tapes on Olajuwon in Africa, he knows Hakeem. But this fool 1 state over in Lousiana never heard of Hakeem.
How can you play center in the nba and didn't hear about Olajuwon? Ill be running point at local drew league doing dream shakes. SMH @millenials
I have to agree here. His shot blocking timing and raw athleticism is there but I am not sold on his bball IQ. But remember, this guy was a 2nd round pick so....
if you're a true student of the game, you should obviously know who the greats were. that's just common sense. things like this tell plenty about how much someone actually values the game in its entirety
