james harden has overtaken steph curry as the biggest influencer in the game of basketball

the "stepback" is like crack cocaine to these kids, i see kids practicing eurosteps and stepbacks at my local la fitness all the time

For real, the stepback is a big part of Harden's legacy now. He single handedly expanded the 3pt game. People were just shooting set or straight up, feels so antiquated now.

If you think about it, Dream was a master at effective counter moves in the post era and now Harden is that guy for the 3pt era. Steph Curry is possibly the greatest shooter ever and he has added it to his game. That's high praise.

For some reason the move is just not as impressive. Is it the league? The player? The move? No one will ever know. #VSPAN4Life or at least #VSPAN4OneYear

Thing is, for anyone outside of Harden, the stepback 3 is just an inefficient, bad shot. That's what really separates James from the rest, he's made if efficient and viable FOR HIM.

It works for him bc of the constant threat to get to the hoop. Have to have that fear instilled in the defender

i'm one of those "kids" haha. as a smaller person, it makes so much sense to create a little extra space to get a shot off.

I feel like footwork is a really underpraised part of the game. Hand eye coordinati for shooters, athleticism, instincts maybe....there are only a few ways to stand apart and harden has the best footwork in the nba
