If this year's edition of the JVG Rox is to just make the play offs then they should play a pat hand. There is reason for optimism that they can squeeze in at #8, or better. And then be bumped out in 4 games, 5 tops.

If this year's edition is to challenge for the 2nd round, at least, then position itself to contend next year a deal must be made.

A reasonable proposition to bring in JVG-type help for help wanted elsewhere is --

Cat/Cato to (reeling) Philly for Snow, Big Dog (an avowed fav of JVG...but, why?), and Sam Bam Dalembaert.

Snow plays the point ala JVG and SD offers youth and enthusiasm behind Yao. Robinson can get his shot, and make it.

Philly is reeling, Iverson is crying, Ayers is overmatched and yet 6ers are still a play off contender (imagine these Rox in the East -- home court!!!). Cato anchors their middle and Cat gives Iverson a new dimension with which to work in his home town.

Stevie moves to the 2, and backs up Snow at the 1. Jimmy Jax starts at the 3, backs up SF at the 2, with GR coming in with MoT to offer bench points-a-lot.

Two teams with different looks, and improved results expected.

    We need Eric Snow

There is gotta be away we can trade for Eric Snow.

we desperatly need a point guard so Steve can excel in scoring and not try to keep everyone happy.

I know you're pissed about the lost, but don't lose your mind DD. Big Dog has a sweet shot and thats about it, defense isn't even in the guys vocabulary, and he's not exactly the youngest or most reliable player. I'm sure Cat and Cato could rack up a nice deal for the Rockets however.

I do want to see the Rockets make a deal for a young, true PG and a tall, athletic SF. I don't want to trade Steve unless its for a true superstar, period. Even though the guy is having a bad year, he still has the ability and is still running this team.

This year's goal is the same as last year's.

It's about 10' from the ground, and is circular with a net affixed to the bottom of it, with a "backboard" to help deflect the ball into it.

The problem is, we can't seem to hit the goal often enough.

But they decided long ago that Iverson is better suited for the 2 than the point. Why do they want to give up their point guard with out even getting a point guard in return? Also, Big Dog makes ridiculous money, is old and oft injured. I'd love Eric Snow on this team. I would not love Big Dog.

Not under JVG's system. He'd have a lot of help, and on a team that takes defense seriously, eventually even Big Dog could be taught to take it seriously as well.

Of all the trades I've seen posted here, this one makes the most sense. I'd do it.

We have to make the playoffs this year and we have to make it a fight in the first round.

We probably aren't ready to go beyond the first round yet, but we can't just lay dead and be the red carpet to the conference semifinals for some contending team. We have to make it a fight.

And if we somehow miss the playoffs again, well, time to blow up the team.

Offer Cat straight up and stand aside as Philly screams 'Oh, yeah!'.

Rox need to get back more than just Snow for Cat.

The Rox can match up well with the Spurs, Minny, Lakers (with no Malone). If the 1st round is against these 3 teams, Rox will give it a fight. We can really evaluate players based on these playoff games. We will know who we want to keep, who we want to get rid of.

Against the Kings and Mavericks, no chance, we do not have a veteran PG who can control the pace of the game, we will get slaughtered and we still do not know whom we should keep.

Just hope we can face the Spurs and the Minny. We can easily see our players weakness and strength against these two teams.
If any Rox player makes consistent dumb mistakes during the playoff, you bet Rox will try to trade him.

This year's goals: 6th seed. No less. If we let Memphis, Denver or Seattle pass by us, we should just start from scratch....

This will make trading them easy? Easier?
