Everyone was spotted up at the three point line. With 15 seconds left, Steve could take it to the rack and get a two, then fould the poor FT shooters on the Spurs. If they double, we get an open three pointer. That was the worst thing he could possibly do. He used the entire 15 seconds, didn't let anyone else sniff the ball, and jacked up an ugly shot. We had a chance and Steve threw it away. Also, there are 6 players on the team shooting at a higher three point percentage than Steve, one of whom is in the 3 point shootout. Why would Steve think he should be the primary option on the play. He should have passed it off as soon as he crossed the time line.

Steve is just not a capable PG, he can not multitask...give him one thing to do only...SCORE and I think he may soar.

But, for god sakes take the PG duties away from him NOW so the team can improve.

He needs to learn how to finish AGAIN? He is supposed to be going foward not backwards.

Okay, I'm calming down, my anger is sloooooowly dissipating.

    Slighty better...

Now, earlier in the game, Marv called it 'a 3' that Mobley shot, and it sounded like the PA announcer called it as a 3 as well; it registered as a 2 on the scoreboard. Was it a 3 or a 2?

And why can't Spoon hit that damn FT?!?!?

He just said if JVG should either let Steve run free and score, or trade him.

    Not great commentary.

He then went on to say that JVG needs to realize he has better players than what he had in NY, and how HE needs to change a little.

Sorry folks... he was bashing JVG, not Steve (although he said flat out, "Steve is just a scorer.")

I would not let my 39% or less shooting PG score at will...in fact, I don't think he can.....

I would at least try him at the 2 position to see if it helps...but no way MJ could last as a starting PG in the league.

exactly. **** getting us back in the game with big shots, grabbing rebounds and hitting yao, playing D, doing everything (11 rebounds! geez), but you screwed up the last play in which pretty much you're only mistake was not driving on horry. he sure as hell had no one to pass to.

and the only effort at a pick was padgett and someone else picking someone and the spurs switched so no one was open. if someone knows anybody who was open on that play, please tell us. if not, be mad only that steve didn't drive and then be more pissed jvg again blew all our timeouts and left us with none at the most important part of the game. seriously, at least 6 times this season. middle of the 2nd quarter after two shots in a row, not a good timeout time. down 3 with 15 seconds left, good time for a timeout.

damn, i'm just mad cuz all there is going to be is b****ing after a 3 point loss to the world champions.

I actually agree with this statement. The rox looked so much better in the fourth, moving, passing, not turning the ball over, much different from the slow paced, slug fest the offense was for the first 3 1/2 quarters tonight.

Exactly. That's his strength. Not PG. His strength is the pick and roll, or the single cross-over (stop and pop). A SG role.

    If not that. Trade.

    Francis 4 Prez,

How did Steve shoot tonight against that masterful defensive wizard 21 year old Tony Parker?

I am sure he lit him up, right?

    No? Well, why not??????????

Steve made a horrid decision late, but he certainly helped claw the Rockets back into the game.....

And someone...please SOMEONE tell Cuttino that Ginobli is LEFT FRICKEN HANDED.....

Enough Moron Juice in our guards heads to fill up the Hindenberg.

i've always wondered how yao would feel taking the same shot that francis did in the closing seconds of a game. i'm not sure of the stats or anything, but didn't he make quite a few in china?

anyway... vg and his assistants need to keep a better eye out on those timeouts. this isn't the first time this season that they've run out when having a chance to tie/win a game. don't blame francis (can't believe i said that).

He was doing pretty good before this year.

Steve HAS to play an uptempo game. That's how he gets in a rhythym.

That's why he looked so good in the 4th quarters of the last two games... it required that type of play.

Maybe moving him to the two will give him that same "feeling", but I'd have to see how this team performs in a 7-game playoff series before I abandon ship on Steve as the leader of this team.

Because no one knew what Steve was going to do. Steve's last play is ALWAYS clear out and let me do my thing. Horry just happened to be the guy on him and forced him into a bad shot. In the post game Magic was even saying that francis had the drive but held up for the 3 that they didn't really need, especially against the worse FT shooting team in the league.

No pick is going to work because you are not driving to the hold no matter what. Once SF backed out and wasted a few secs, there was no way to get a good look. Had SF driven, he might have been able to hit an open guy for 3.

But that would require him to PASS the ball and to TRUST his teamates, and no way is Francis going to do that...he hasn't done it for 5 years, why would we expect him to do it now?
