These last few games have been pretty bad for Clint . His timing is off on defense (he isn't contesting well at the rim) and he's consistently getting stuffed on offense. Where is the ATHLETICISM ? Is his hand injury playing a factor ? Is it just that he was out for a long time ? I'm officially concerned . Don't get me wrong , he's still bringing some positives . But , he's nowhere near his best form right now . I hope he can get there for the playoffs
House is really struggling too. Wonder if I should make a thread since there are no House threads. Not sure what it is with CC. Continually getting outworked and I haven’t seen him running the floor consistently.
As long as Clint rebounds, I can take his pedestrian defense and rim protection (Clint had a game saving block at the end though). Harden can just guard the post defender too. 17 rebounds for Clint is great. Rockets need rebounding.
Last block was key tonight. He’s always had issues against stronger, more aggressive big men. He’s gotten better every year.
I'm a big fan of Clint but i have to agree, in the last games he has not been aggressive enough and looked kinda soft, maybe he's not 100%...anyway i don't think he was a major reason why we almost chocked this game, we were up 20 and the team overall started playing like trash just like the Rockets pretty much always do when they're up big.
His defense now is similar to when the season started. Overall his man to man defense on bigs is horrible. He defends guards better than bigs. If I gave him ratings in NBA 2k it would be... (obviously for illustration purposes) 90 shot blocking 80 lateral quickness 55 post defense 85 perimeter defense. 87 help defense. 80 defensive awareness. I'm just blown away at a 6'10 athletic big that can't play post D. I don't get it.
you bring up a good point. capela's defense is down across the board this season. and the main difference since last is his increased minutes. seems like he just doesn't have the stamina required to maintain that same level of play
He was woeful today going to the ring. And even worse with his defense on the perimeter, which has been an ongoing issue recently. I don't know why but he just looks a step or two slow on that end. We can't be carrying that defensive effort in the Playoffs or we'll be slaughtered. Props to him though for coming up clutch with that huge block down the stretch.
Even with a struggling Capela, we are better. Team went 9-6 when Capela was hurt. Team has gone 13-3 since he came back. Those 3 losses were by a grand total of only 7 points. I will admit though, he needs to pick it up.
Yeah, but that was to his fibula, a non weight bearing bone. Nevertheless, you're right, Clint is a cautious player whenever things go wrong.
