I have no doubt if we had Faried out there last night we would have went on to win. His rebounding and help defense in the paint was badly missed.

I agree. Faried or Gordon in would have been a win.

Not true at all, Gordon and Paul....and sometimes Tucker.

I had to rewatch the clock, thinking that, too.

But foul wasn't called until Jonas landed and started jump back up. Clock was at 1.0 as the airball was passing by the rim. The fear in Capela's mind to guard against was surely a tip-in off the rim.

All credit goes to Jonas to follow the ball with his eyes, and realize it was an airball and jump early. Game's over if Capela does that too...as he surely tips it at least.

    The morning after:

Man, this loss stings. It stings because of Hardens amazing performance. It stings because looking at the standings and the upcoming schedule, it appears the Rockets will have a difficult time keeping the third seed over Portland.

This game was weird. The whistle was blowing in the Grizzlies favor all night long. And to call a foul with .1 seconds left after Capela was clearly pushed in the back was frustrating.

Oh well, it looks like the Rockets are more concerned about resting players and getting to the playoffs healthy over playoff seeding. I'm ok with that, although I would like the third seed.

    On to the next game.

You know we would have won with Gordon in. No worries. Resting keeps guys healthy. It doesn't matter who we play first round. Just go in healthy, and if we are the best team then we win.

Brutal loss. Great effort by Harden, but the team as a whole clearly didn't come ready to play from the jump.

Also, we're not good enough to rest players, we need to try to win every game. If we had taken care of business earlier in the season, then sure we can rest players.

Puzzling to rest someone like Faried who only played like 30+ out of 72 and who isn't a clear starter.

    @don grahamleone

really the final nail in the coffin for me as far as what's to come for us in the playoffs. because this ref crew did not even include any of the usual suspects we've been accustomed to till now. till now the outliers from the core fixers were also well known. kane fitzgerald, karl lane the idiot, pat fraher cuttino's most hated, zach zarba the occasional dick, lauren holtkamp the incompetent, perhaps tre maddox who let KD dribble out of bounds, and john goble who was recently upgraded to core fixer. virtually every single rigged rockets game till now included some of these outliers or the core fixers themselves.

but last nite's refs were supposed to be of the regular unbiased unbitchy variety. i mean marat kogut watched as caboclo double dribbled no more than 6 feet directly in front of him. 39-20 FT disparity with ridiculous calls and non-calls from start to finish. this is a game-changer for me because something does not compute. perhaps it's further widespread fallout for harden calling out foster?

I don't know about that Chris Paul made two corner threes that looked unbelievable to me

That was a BULLSHIT call on Capela - but the game was lost in the 1st quarter when we failed to guard anyone.

I felt the game was more or less lost in the middle of the 3rd when the Rockets got it down to something like 8 points, and then forgot how to play defense and gave up multiple wide open shots, including a couple of 3's, that let the Grizzlies bump the lead up to 19. The comeback was great but it's nice when you don't have to pull off miraculous feats to win.

That said, holy crap was the reffing awful. In the first half, Valuncrapus went over Tucker's back and axe-handled him like he was trying to chop his shoulder off and the ref...called a foul on Tucker? Then you have that dumb call to end the game...

    Foul or not,

I don't understand the call there with .1 left.

Capela got shoved under the basket which was a clear off ball foul.

Val went over his back for the rebound and proceeded to get tangled up with Capela.

As a ref, you need to understand when and when not to call fouls.

In games where we play against great point guard defenders like conley, we need to pull chris paul out earlier, around the 6-7 minute mark. He needs to play every minute conley is not in the game.
