I agree the argument is dumb but I remember capela getting little action from other teams during the summer. It maybe because they knew we would match but it hasn’t stopped people before. Hopefully other teams continue to undervalue our pieces and we can resign house to a long team friendly contract.
I like his confidence and performance but I dislike how he complained about his money publicly. This makes it feel like he's totally playing for a big contract and that's it. I don't need to give you examples of big contracts and then the player goes lazy after he gets his dough. Harden and the rest of the team are motivated by the championship cause they aren't complaining about their contract. I also want to know the reason why he got dropped by several teams and the Rockets and not picked up again. It may not be because of his talent, cause he has that. This is definitely not like how Cappella developed. Cappella had to prove himself for years and then want the big bucks. I'm on the side of the Rockets management on this one. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sp...Explaining-the-Danuel-House-move-13551952.php The Rockets wanted to sign him to a standard NBA contract and offered three seasons with partial guarantees. He did not go for that so they made it fully guaranteed, $4.2 million over three years. He wanted only to have his contract converted to a standard deal for the rest of this season to become a restricted free agent this summer or if he would sign for three seasons, to get all the mid-level exception money the Rockets have left. The Rockets would not go for that and did not want to sign a player they consider a developmental player only to have him potentially leave when he develops. That brings us to the frustration many feel while the Rockets make do without a player that undeniably helps. House's decision is beyond curious. The Suns let him walk after last season. No one offered a guaranteed contract. The Warriors cut him. The Rockets put him on waivers last month and no one picked him up. He played well for a month. He is an NBA talent. But general managers are slow to change their minds about their evaluations of players. He is gambling that they will. It has been said that he is betting on himself. But there are two problems with that. One, he is actually betting on someone else giving him a chance. Betting on himself would imply he is proving himself on the floor, but he has proved all he can in the G League already. Second, he already bet on himself and he won. He got the deal, a $4.2 million guaranteed contract. That's not bad for a guy that began the season in the G League and went unclaimed on waivers. And when that deal, playing for a contender in his hometown with teammates (James Harden, Chris Paul) that help him succeed, he would still be young enough to get the mid-level money he by then would have convinced GMs to spend on him. As for the Rockets, their position about a developmental player is understandable – in normal circumstances. These are not normal circumstances.
What he did was extremely risky but if a player has that much confidence and guts that's the kind of player that's good for business. Now that being said he we will have to make good in the playoffs for his move to be successful. One bad acl tear or groin tear can derail him
Look, we're trying to find the Trevor Ariza replacement. People think House is him, but I want to wait to see how he does in the playoffs and see his attitude and effort when the shots aren't falling.
There will be games House will stink the joint by going 1-8 from 3's, but that can happen even with the best 3-point shooter in Curry. House can do other things to contribute, including having a quick first step to drive into the lane for a lay up or create a foul. Like Harden said it yesterday, dude is just perfect for our system. I am just going to enjoy the playoffs, and hope that everything falls into place.
I got no problem with undrafted players fighting for a bigger contract, while all those mid tier 1st rounders and 2nd rounders get guaranteed money early on, even if it is not that much. That is how their agents make money too. I dun think there are tons of players, but some players have emerged who only performed for 1 or 2 teams in their careers, it's not out of question.
House has the potential to be a great 3&D player. Anyone else who thinks he is Scottie Pippen needs to go to housefans.net.
Moreee did the right thing and only thing he could do with the monetary restrictions. The offer was a Gary Clark type deal that was team friendly. House did the ballsy thing that not many expected.... turns out it was a good bet so far. Personally I think it is a win win for the rockets.... 1. If he falls down to earth and turns out to be our 8th or 9th rotation player we will get a team friendly this offseason for a player who can flash on both ends of the court with upside. 2. More importantly, if he continues to rise to stardom or elite role player levels, that increases our title odds dramatically. We ALL would gladly let House walk this summer for a RING!!!
The first part is true Show me your source for your second assertion , that house only would have signed long term if given all the remaining MLE . Because I have never heard that As far as I know , the rockets never made an offer including ANY MLE . The highest they went was offering the minimum . We can debate all day whether that was a fair offer and if House was being too confident etc .... But until I'm shown otherwise , the rockets never even attempted to offer MLE . House may have been stubborn , but the rockets also played hardball . We can talk about house "playing for a contract" , well then we better also talk about tilman prioritizing not paying the tax .
You got House back and you still want to find something to complain about. Look: House went for the money, which you respect, and the Rockets went for the money, which you disrespect. Your complaint has been registered. Why you still crying?
To the best of my knowledge, this is correct. Rockets offered 3 years at min, take it or leave it hardball. House said no, stubbornly refusing guaranteed nba money. Now he's back, playing well. Advantage House, at the moment. Will be interesting to watch play out, and doubt we will really know who made the better decision until a couple years down the road. If House can continue to play like he has, then great for him and for the Rockets, at least this season. I still would like to know why House never did much before now if anybody has theories.
The link is in my post from the Houston Chronicle You know.. The Houston newspaper that's been reporting on the Rockets since they came to Houston
