Stick to the present, dude, where $1 = $1, and there's only like 3 Houston-born, ex-Cougars in the league.

And, if you want to go back 50 years, the question is really about how many ppl had enough money to own the Rockets in that time...hell, Tilman wasn't even a Billionnaire when he first almost bought the team. There is much more than 10-15 people from Houston over the last 50 years.

My point is you are a billionaire anywhere from a year to 60 years.

While you will only be in the league for 1-15 years.

So if the question was will there be more new cougar NBA players or new locals billionaires who could pay over $2 billion for the team in the next 15 years I'm going with there will be more cougar NBA players.

Yeah, but your point is still wrong.

There are more Houston Billionnaires now than Local NBA players of House's caliber....Houston born, ex-Cougar. And the question isn't any Houston player; it is House Caliber.

That got me thinking. Who is the best UoH player in the NBA since Olajuwon and Drexler?

How many locally born ex-cougar billionaires that own NBA teams have there ever been?

You've made like 10 posts in this thread defending a premise that you injected here.

I can't tell where the humor is supposed to start or end in this.

This thread was awful to start with. I'm just surprised people are trying to help.

You took what started as a pointless agenda thread, and then posted an essay attempting to speak out against Tilman, intertwined with the (uncertain) premise that there are "fans here that seem to be rooting for the Rockets account department rather than the players".

You then proceed to admit that you understand why that is happening (because people have differing opinions about the future of the team and what should be done with cap money).

Finally, you make an intentionally disingenuous comparison with The Warriors, who are coming off of 3 championships and paying $85M in lux tax money this season, implying that we are in the same circumstances and roster construction to be using that as a role model for the next $1M acquisition. No consideration of whether the secondary / opportunity costs are the same for both teams to spend $1M on the corpse of Andrew Bogut.

This is just wild extrapolation masquerading as superior fandom.

This is why Clutchfans will always fight. You guys are some of the smarter, higher quality veteran posters here. We're in year one of ownership and we can't go one day without predicting/arguing what year 3 will be like.

Yeah, but Outlaw is from San Antonio. Who cares!

House is the best Houston-born, ex-Cougar since Drexler.
And btw: the 2nd Best recently signed for $6m/yr after also going undrafted, and bouncing around other leagues.

I like how in your head there are only two options, a local cheapsake owner that is penny pinching or a non-local owner who will 100% move the team to Seattle.

    I'm sure there's 100% no in between

Why do you people insist on locally grown artisanal grass-fed free range billionaires for team owners? Are you some kind of Green New Deal socialist?

This is kind of the beauty of CF. :) Whenever a bad thread is created, people try to "rescue" it by derailing it into something more fun.

My only takeaway from this thread:

I'm shocked Aubrey Coleman never got a cup of coffee with an NBA team
