Did anyone catch this game? Arizona as the ball with time running out and the score tied at 77. Robinson of Stanford steals the ball then hits a running three about halfway between the three-point line and half court at the buzzer. With this and the UNC/Duke game two nights ago, this has been a badass college basketball week.
The best part is that Robinson is only a 3rd-string bench warmer. He got the start today because Stanford's normal starting PF and leading rebounder Justin Davis and Stanford's backup PF and leading scorer off the bench Matt Haryasz were both out with injuries. That's Robinson's 15 minutes of fame!
Once again college hoops proves to be the most exciting of all the spectator sports. Those two games are giving me March Madness in February.
But I thought the sport was dead??? At least that's what some would have you believe... I completely agree with you. Regardless of whether the talent level has dropped off in the last decade or so due to underclassmen leaving, it's still one of the most exciting sports with by far the best and intriguing playoff systems. The first two days of March Madness are always personal holidays for me. I'll be at my local watering hole from 11:00 in the morning until 11:30 that night. I can't freakin' wait!
Agree, agree, agree, agree. Even though the level of talent has definitely fallen off, it's now more of a guard's game which is a good thing and the parity makes things more exciting although also a little more medicocre.
