I like Ben Wallace alot. I'm not sure he's a free agent, but he can rebound like nobody in the West (except maybe Shaq). He's got liabilities, but I'm not sure we're really looking for offense from a center.

I'd like to get Lafrentz, too, especially if we dumped Cato.

    MMANAL, (or whomever),

Is there a team drafting (probably) in the 4-7 range that might trade its pick for our picks, and why do you think yea or nay?

    Roxtia,
I don't think anyone would be interested in giving up a low to mid lottery pick just for our picks. In my mind, we'd have to offer KT or Cato or someone to pique anyone's interest. I'm really wondering what Oeilpere's hinting at with "Watch New Jersey." Based on the rumors that have been circulating about the Rocks wanting to move down to 7 or 8, I'm guessing they want Battier, who would be great if we could get him, but I'm worried about what we're going to down at the 5. Even if we re-sign Hakeem, he won't be around to protect the middle more than a couple years.

    Relativist,
Yeah, the 5 situation makes me wonder. Unless we actually trade for Lafrentz.
Marc Jackson is no saviour, but he scores and boards real well.
I'm quite sure the one player the Rockets want to draft is Battier (if possible), unless we give up picks in trading for someone.

Carter won't really be a free agent next year. Toronto has the right of first refusal on ANY deal, so expect him to be a raptor for a few years yet.

I dont think trading for van horn would be a good idea. it wont make us contenders any time soon. shareef seems like a better fit, and might be more deserving of his contract. but then defensively, we would still be lacking.
i think if we dont get webb or shareef, just try to dump off cato, resign MO and Dream, and try to move up in the draft...

So is this adios, Mo Taylor?

Sign and trade for Webber seems to be the only way to get both Mo and Webber.

Sacramento would only take those players straight-up if we included our 3 picks, but to tell the truth, it would probably involve a 3-way if we actually traded for Webber. Cato, Walt, and the picks to New Jersey, KVH to Sacramento, that sort of thing.

Cato and Walt + picks still don't equal a franchise player, IMHO

    Roxtxia,

Barring any major declarations ie. Jason Williams, Kwame Brown, etc., I think picks 1-4 in this draft will basically be off limits. I dont see how a team will trade Curry, Chandler or Griffin as all three of them can be franchise type players. Also, I could see DeSagna Diop join that elite class; its not everyday that you get an agile 7-0 300 pound center with good hands that defends and rebounds like a beast and has a soft touch on offense. Despite the raw low post game, I think he could join that elite company in this draft.

Pick 5 on could very well be available. Depending on how the lottery shakes out, Vancouver could end up picking 5th if a team behind them wins the lottery, and they lose out. My guess is that pick could become available. Vancouver needs a top 18 pick to satisfy its obligation to Detroit and could use the 13th and 22nd picks to draft solid role players to fill holes. The Grizz have enough core talent but need some solid, defensive minded role players to tie everything together.

The other possibility could be New Jersey as OP stated.

I was wondering about the Grizz, too. I don't always place high stock in bskball.com (definite Orlando homer), but he mentions the Grizz have interest in Loren Woods. If so, he could very well be available at 13.

I suppose if we were really serious about the 4 or 5 pick, we could throw in the future Detroit and Chicago obligations and say "that takes care of the pick we owe you, too" (if they'll go for it).

The Grizz don't need the draft to improve greatly. They can certainly trade for a great player with SAR or Bibby or Dickerson. Solid players that just don't mesh.

trade vancouver our #13,22,& cato for dickerson + change & the #4 or #5 pick. Therefore vancouver can ship the #13 to Detroit or keep it instead of just biting the big one with the #4.

Yeah, but it's still better than getting nothing for him ... or is it? ;-)
