    Well,

    1. Yao is a more efficient scorer - better %.
    2. Yao is almost invincible 1-on-1 - Steve isn't.
    3. There's an amazing correllation between Yao's shots and the Rockets winning, and no such amazing correllation with Steve's.

    But as for the rest:

The problem isn't that Steve would or would not defer. Rather, the problem is that he's not effective as the 2nd option. Steve needs the ball, and lots of it, to work well. He's great off the dribble. As a spot up shooter, he blows.

I can't even imagine the look on Dirk's face during Steve's aimless little "I think I'll run at the bucket, throw it up, and hope it goes in" moves. Nash, of course, attacks the lane, too - with an escape route in mind every time... somethign that seldom occurs to Francis.

    No, same problem.

It's like saying Cuban would never trade NVE after he single-handed push Marvs to the WCF. Dirk is a terrific offensive player. But he is no where close to Yao on defense. With a player dominate both ends of floor, you can build a championship team. Dirk cann't win a championship with so many star players surrounding him.

LOL u talk like u care for the rocket and this trade would benifit the rockets? i can see right through you... you are nothing but a YOF... u just frustrated cause u think Yao aint getting enuff llove on this team.. dont pretend that u are on this BBS cause u supporting the rocket.. like i say, u a fraud just like many YOF ..so why dont you just stop proposing trades.

If yao ever gets traded..voila..we would never see you here again..so stop talking smack and go to the mavs bbs and talk smack.

and when yao does go to the mavs u be crying that nash and walker and jamison aint feeding him enuff..and soo enuff u be proposing a trade for yao to go to sum other team ..u will only be sastisfy when yao goes on a team where he get feeds 30 times and get his 30ppg and 12 rpg but then the teams goes nowhere like the orlando magic ..then u be complaining that yao doesn;t have and good supporting cast..blah blah blah...then u would be proposing a trade back to the rockets so yao can get sum loving from SF and win a championship

It would help Yao and the rockets tremendously if they don't allow double or triple a player before he even get the ball.

Dirk doesn't need a passer, it's not like he posts up much anyway. Why would a guy who can create his own shot, creates a mismatch every night, run the break, shoot 3's and drive to the hole need a passers to get him the ball?

Saying "return to a running team" would seem to imply that we use to be a running team... when was that? We haven't been able to run a decent fast break in years. If you want to be a running team, then you better go get somebody that can lead the break.

    Thank you Elliot,

Unless you relied on Dirk to push the ball up and lead the fast break (which he can do better than Stave the Franchise BTW...), the rockets wouldn't be a fast breack team after that change.

Just a quote: I was at the wolves-rockets game in MSP in December, sitting about three seats next to K. Mc Hale.

Francis was running the team into the ground, and all I could was moan on why Steve did not pass the ball faster than after approaching the three point line (fast break BTW).

He again missed a wide open JJ running for a fast beak (which I assume Dirk would do often, as he is quite fast for his size), I couldn't believe it again, shook my head just enough to see Kevin Mc Hale, shaking his head himself in disbelief, clearly not appreciating a play from an opposing player!

This is just one example, of bad plays he keeps on doing, and I do not even describe what he did just after holding the ball so much!

We were completely crushed by the Wolves. Yao was absolutely invisible during the game and still managed to get a stat line of 10 points and 3 rebounds in thirty minutes or so. Believe me, this was a direct result of Steve's play decision.

All in all, very few teams would actually trade for Stave the Franchise considering his max contract and lack of team play. (When I say team play, I mean actually playing off the ball and deferring to teammates to get the ball at the right time at the right place to the right person).

Francis would do great with Dirk. But it wouldn't happen here because JVG would be the one ruing Dirk's game, not letting him have the freedom he has in Dallas. But with Francis driving the lane and kicking it out to Dirk on the perimeter the Rockets would score a lot more. Remember how good the Rockets looked whenever Glenn Rice would finally have a good game. Scoring forwards are ideal teamates for franchise point guards.

    Payton/Kemp
    Stocton/Malone
    Isiah/and a bunch of forwards

Dirk Nowitzki is a bad defensive player. It's true.

My question is this - why would Dallas want to do this trade? Dirk is already an established superstar but we sincerely do not know how good Yao can be. I will not do this trade if I was Dallas.
