wish that lil ****er t-mac was there so Morey could call him out. You know that he'd call in sick if he ever knew who was gonna be on set
When Rachel is talking up the Rockets...I start feeling all bloodninja. Wanna get my wizard hat and wizard cape. Just so thick and juicy.
And notice how the criteria changes and is always conveniently the criteria that works against James Harden.
I agree, but Morey had his chance to point that out. He could have done it in his passive aggressive hey we're all friends here sorta way. I still love him.
I wish Morey would have emphasized how seeding alone doesn't paint the entire picture. Relative to the conference, the Rockets are way ahead of where the Thunder were when Westbrook won his MVP. Rockets as of March 6th, 2019 Current seed: 3rd Games back of 1st seed: 5 Games back of 2nd seed: 3½ Games back of 3rd seed: - Thunder as of March 6th, 2017 Current seed: 7th Games back of 1st seed: 15½ (ended season 20 back) Games back of 2nd seed: 13½ (ended season 14 back) Games back of 3rd seed: 8½ (ended season 8 back) And if that's not enough, you also have to consider that the 2017 Thunder team had zero significant injury issues. Their starters averaged 78 games played and their top 8 rotation averaged 76. Their most used lineup played 630 minutes together (prorated to 476 at this point in the season) while the most used Rockets lineup has played just 211 minutes together -- and features a guy who is no longer on the team. Conclusion: Harden is carrying this team significantly harder and to greater heights than Westbrook did with that Thunder team. Simply lumping them together as "lower seeded" is misleading.
Most interesting thing to me, in this interview, is what Morey said at the end about D'Antoni being cool with Morey gambling on guys who didn't fit in elsewhere. So you get your Farieds, but you also get your MCWs. It's a reminder that when low-cost guys don't pan out, that's part of the deal with Morey's MO.
I get that, but why has the MLE not been used to get players who are definitely better than MCW and Ennis? Prince Luc wasn't the only one player, who should have been a MLE target. Jeff Green has been successful for the Wizards. Part of the MLE could have been used on him. I didn't like Melo, but I welcomed his inclusion. It's okay that it didn't work out. Morey deserves credit for acquiring Faried and Rivers, but they were buyouts.
