I'm not against converting him. I'm against crying every day going "I wan' it I wan' it Daddy Tilman." I like the guys who are actually on the team. A lot of "winner" posters think only losers like every player on the team. I like all the Rockets and I don't cry as a fan. Sorry.
i understand we want to lock in him cheap. but house seems willing to no play again and ride this out to FA. we have to have a date set that we WILL convert him for the rest of the season. but when is that date?
This is what happens when you sign role players to 80 million dollar contracts. I think he's holding out for a 3-5 million a year contract.
Not true. Cap situation for next year isn't final for ages. Rox can shed salary all they want. House is delusional in thinking he will get paid. He probably won't even get played after he is converted. No chance they let his asset value rise....
Rockets can attempt to shed salary by moving guys. Doesn't mean other team will play ball. Also, it is WAY too early to say that House is delusional. We have absolutely no idea what the market is for him. I'd be willing to bet that he gets a contract offer that beats what the Rockets are currently offering (Either from the Rockets or another team).
Shedding salary always costs assets. They’ll never be shortage of teams looking to trade nothing for something.
I cannot believe that the Rockets would not play a playable guy just to limit his value. Why would they convert him if the didn't want him to play?
$3-5M is fair for both sides if it happens that way House will have earned $6 -12M more that the original contract. That is worth the wait if it happens, IMO. Part of season yo triple up to 5X’s the original offer, most would do the same if given the opportunity.
i don't think his value is that high. this was not Linsanity He has not proven to be a reliable NBA starter or even a rotational guy on a good team. He was cut by 2 teams and placed on waivers before he was a starter those 20 or so games did nothing IMO to make him worth over the vet minimum. he also had the benefit of playing in a MDA system which most think inflates a players numbers. i just don't see teams having a bidding war, he is a older player who is known around the league, if Luc could barely get 3 million last year what does that say about House?
How much can we offer him this season do we don't go over the cap? I think it's obvious he would benefit us. In the few games he's played he's shown himself to have the best size for the 3 position of anyone in our roster not named Tucker. Plus so far he's been a reliable 3 pt shooter and decent defender.
I have no idea what this has to do with what I posted. Luc had a much larger sample size of games and he could only get that offer, what do you think House is getting because of 15 games?
Ok, why do you think this when all current evidence shows that he will not? name a player who signed over the minimum who only has had this body of work to show and is 26 years old? i am not saying he will not be offered more but history says otherwise. I know people will get upset but IMO he would be lucky to get the same interest as Ennis who was rotational player for several years and only got the minimum.
I like House I want him here long term because I think we can groom him into a very valuable rotation piece. But this guy is not getting 3+ mil a year from the rockets or any team. So many guys with more of a track record in this league don’t get that kind of money. He’s a young (fairly) wing with potential to be a solid rotation 3&d wing. But solid 10 game stretch playing next to harden no less is all he has on his resume. What team is offering him more than the minimum this offseason? Use your brains guys.
His agent knows his value - he is not doing this blindly - he knows he will make more by not signing long term on the cheap. DD
