Not saying Francis would have allowed those Grizz fans to have something to cheer for next year but it sure didn't help. Who knows....maybe Stevie could've boosted attendance and brought in some endorsements,exposure which rakes a couple of bucks here and there. He would have increased their amount of wins by atleast 15 games. Too bad it didn't work out for their sake. Actually, I think their fate was sealed when they signed Reeves to that terrible contract. Drafting Steve 1 year after they drafted Bibby was just another example of the ineptitude and unfortunate luck flowing through that organization, but there were several factors (deflated Canadian $, perception by FAs, bad management, etc.) that contributed. But in retrospect, if the Bulls had done what every "expert" and publication expected, Steve would be a Bull, and Brand or Odom would be Grizzlies. That would have given the Grizz a nice F combo and possibly given the fan base a better product to support. So I guess... JERRY KRAUSE IS TO BLAME, VANCOUVER! ------------------
Actually, I believe the ultimate example of their ineptitude was drafting Francis a year after they drafted Bibby(ahead of Carter and Jamison), the year after they drafted Antonio Daniels(and then traded him halfway through the season) which was two years after they drafted Bryant Reeves.
