Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe told NBC's "TODAY" on Tuesday that

He and his team briefed the Congressional "Gang of Eight" about the FBI opening a counterintelligence
    investigation into President Trump

the top congressional leaders did not object to the FBI's counterintelligence investigation.

"That's the important part here, no one objected. Not on legal grounds, not on
constitutional grounds and not based on fact," he said.
The Gang of 8, at the time, included:
    • Dems Schumer, Warner, as well as Pelosi and Schiff
    • Rep McConnell, Burr, as well as Paul Ryan and Devin Nunes,
(perhaps that's why Paul Ryan didn't seek re-election)

Coziness between President Trump and Rep. Devin Nunes, then-chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, led Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe to want him barred from sensitive meetings with lawmakers about counterintelligence activities related to Trump — to no avail.
