Beastie Boys to release new album The Beastie Boys say they will release their first studio album for five years this summer. Adam Yauch and Mike D said the follow up to 1998's Hello Nasty would be "all hip-hop". But Mike D told the BBC: "This record is all hip-hop. We've been working for a little while in a secret location, but there's light at the end of the tunnel and we're mixing now so its almost complete. "The record that we're making is like a hip-hop record, but that doesn't mean we're only checking for hip-hop right now. Everything we like, that's cool, is going to enter the arena." Mike D said they were recording the album in their home town of New York but said it had a British influence too. "We actually have a British song on our album," he said. "You're gonna have to wait and see - just leave it at that. We'll unleash it on you, but it's a very British-centric - whatever you'd call it - type of song." I got rhymes galore I got rhymes gallila and I got more rhymes than Phyllis Dilla'... I was a little disappointed with Hello Nasty, but it's good to hear from the Beasties again...I'm a little scared of the word "hip hop", though...
As long as they keep making videos like "Sabotage"....that's all that matters. I got money - I got juice I got to the party and I got loose I got rhythm - I got rhymes I got the girlies with the Def behinds I got ill - I got busted I got dust and I got dusted I got gold - I got funky I got the new dance - they call the Brass Monkey
This should be a good year with new efforts, most likely, from Beastie Boys, Dave Matthews Band, and U2.
I wonder if by British , he means like british invasion, or the current trend of British garage like Streets and Dizzee Rascal.
I'm a big B-Boys fan, but I pray to God that it's not some album chock full of anti-Bush, anti-War rhetoric.
no joke! i remember jamming Hello Nasty my junior year in high school.... hopefully it'll kick ass like the other beastie albums.
Man, this might be the first CD I will (legally) buy in years! Hello Nasty was still probably the best CD I ever bought (to be fair to those who disagree, I don't buy many CDs).
Kick ass! I just ripped all of my other Beastie CD's onto my 'puter the other night. It will be interesting to hear how they sound after a 5 year hiatus.
While they're at it, how about a digital remastering of Licence to Ill? It's a great album, but every time I play it, I have to turn the volume up a little higher than my other CDs...
Any word on the title? last I heard they were working on calling it "Still Ill." Adam Yauch, aka MCA, is the man
For five years? For five years? Historically the actual release has only been for exactly one instant. After it's released it's released. I am interested to see how they sustain that instant for five years.
