Vandy is again "rebuilding." Looks like we got some big guys for defense - right now, ANYTHING will help us!
Great article on Alabama: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?columnist=maisel_ivan&id=1727292 Some top signees, including Stabler's son.
The irony of it, is that UT has had a lot of off-field problems in the last 2 years or so. I hate Miami as much as anyone, but they really have cleaned up their act.
Oh no....what is UT going to do with all those "2004 recruiting national champions" T-shirts they printed up?
Good thing I got two schools, lots of stars for these recruits... http://rivals100.rivals.com/commitlist.asp?Year=2004&School=37 Other school, outlook not so good: http://baylor.rivals.com/commitlist.asp?school=8
Vandy signed 2 huge defensive lineman from Lincoln County (which is 45 minutes away from my hometown); here's hoping they can become impact players in the SEC.
manny i saw that.. interesting that they got two from the same high school DL... do you know if they were recruited by many other SEC Schools? we'll see how good this team is. I know we are far from being any kind of contender.. but most the games were close last year.. and we didn't lose anyone.. im hoping now that coach johnson is having his recruits in we can at least get near a .500 season soon
Not for sure, but I would think that they were because one is 280 and the other is 260, so these are bigger than average HS defensive tackles - plus Lincoln County is widely known in the mid-state for football powerhouses. Would love to see Vandy be able to get back to a bowl game, but it will be an extremely difficult task to accomplish.
UTEP singed TWO high school All-Americans, the first time they've ever signed a single one. God, I love Mike Price already...
Alabama did a great job on the recruiting trail. RTR!!!! It's a shame I won't be my paper's SEC beat writer anymore, because now I'm covering the Falcons.
Miami recruit, Willie Williams, has been arrested 10 times. http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/7887735.htm He's currently on probation for stealing $3,800 worth of stereo equipment from a store called "Senor Stereo" in July 2002. This guy must be an idiot for getting caught doing something stupid that many times.
If all of this is true, then he won't be playing for Miami. Coker is not like Jimmy Johnson or Dennis Erickson; he'll tell Willie to go somewhere else like they did to Nate Harris.
I bet the Miami Herald or whatever it is feels pretty dumb too for making him a national celebrity with those infamous recruiting diaries. Godd, what a sleazy business college sports has become, maybe they are better off going straight to the pros.
Well, I am sure he knew about the Gainesville trip but in skimming (skimming is the key word) the article, these prior 10 arrests were seemingly unknown to lots of people.
