“We believe we are in position to save some money, " Fertitta said, "and our moves reflect that belief.”
That we're in a position to contend, but didn't have the assets to get a meaningful upgrade, so we'll punt instead of turnover on downs. You guys were expecting a hailmary, but our "quarterback" at the deadline was Marquese Chriss.
We have draft picks, and Sixers used draft picks to acquire Tobias Harris to go all in. Tilman used draft picks to dump salary.
There's quite a bit of difference between Rox's FRP and the Miami Heat 2021 UP. P.S. Not sure if serious lol
Rockets 2021 pick gonna be super valuable given CP's decline and Tilman's cheapness sure to drive Harden to demand trade.
I have a feeling the Sixers are going to be exposed in the playoffs, Simmons being unable to shoot, Embiid being a crybaby, Harris being overrated...and for as talented as they are, i still don't like the mix of players. I mean, they're going to be good, but i'm not sure they'll be as good as most of people think.
All we need is years of tanking and sucking and we, too, can have draft picks to reflect some beliefs! Let's go Morey! Tank!
Maybe, can't rule anything out at this point. But we're punting in terms of looking for upgrades. Wise guy above is saying the 76ers acquired Tobias with "picks". Might be a TAD oversimplified. Here's what the Clippers really netted for Tobias: A 2020 1st, a Miami 2021 1st (valuable), 2021 second, 2023 second Landry Shamet (8.4 ppg rookie with upside) Wilson Chandler (an expiring $13M contract) Michael Beasley (an expiring $3.5M contract) Ivica Zubac (a 21 year old 7 footer on a minimum deal) So - 2 prospects, 4 picks, and $16.5M in capspace this offseason. Not bad. Not sure the Rockets could have (or should have) matched the level of assets needed for a player of Harris's caliber.
All those assets from years of tanking are all pissed away, and they will have nothing to show for it.
West literally robbed Brand lol, i hope for the Sixers Harris resigns and he's worth what he's going to ask, cause otherwise this has potential to be one of the worst traded in the last years. And just a side note, the Miami pick is unprotected...the Heat are in the middle of the pack with little chances to upgrade, while teams like NY, Brooklyn, Atlanta, Orlando, Detroit have the chance to get better in a year or two, maybe even Chicago and Washington...Miami could very well end up in the lottery if the East gets better so, that's a great pick.
West literally raped Elton Brand and Philly FO these are the kinds of trades that should be stopped by the NBA. West and his team are so brilliant they make Ainge and Morey look like Billy King and Kahn in comparison. Clips got a much better haul than NYC did with Porzingis lol they freed up 2 max contracts and sent away one of their good players so they can tank. There are also mind game effects involved like making Philly better so the Raptors lose and Kawhi leaves them. Lpw key one of the most savage trades this year lol. As for Philly that Mgt just squandered away the last assets acquired by the Process they got nothing left. I can see them keeping Harris but I can see Jimmy B going to NYC for the money and the fame. A core of Harris, Embiid and Simmons aint winning no rings lol
