We could convert him for the rest of the year. Probably going to happen in March.

    Tks...

Morris and Mathews would be great for like Clark and Innis roles. Mathews could run with Gordon, Morris, with Nene + Rivers off the bench, not a terrible bench btw, but i think them 2 would be a + upgrade over what innis and Clark brought.

I don’t think converting him would count against the tax. Man I miss less I don’t think we had to worry about the luxury tax IIRC

Like others have said, Matthews signed with the Pacers. Morris, I have no idea, but if you're out for over a month with neck issues and still need a second opinion before playing...

Les was also savvy, sometimes good, and sometime bad.

Tilman doesn't strike me as a savvy owner. I don't fault him to want to be under tax, but ... that 40M signing. That's not consistent. You know what I mean.

What’s Hakeem doing? He could probably do 10-15 mins at center still.

It looks like up to six weeks to heal for Morris.

And given that the Knicks waived Kanter, will they get rid of their remaining viable big man (and expiring contract) in Jordan? I guess we'll see.

    Current salary total - $122,056,276

    Luxury Tax Threshold - $123,733,000

Space below the tax line - $877,610

Being that the calculations are based on a pro-rated amount of the minimum & the league reimburses the team for a percentage , I could see them adding someone who costs them less than the $877,610 they are below the threshold. I don't see them going beyond that figure.

I'll pass on the tip jar bet ...

    Yikes! Someone's stuck in 2008 - 2017.

I'll take Kanter and Ellington, if both are willing to take vet minimums.

Price wise might be OUTSTANDING, but I am not sure if he is good enough as the OUTSTANDING back up 4. He's not great defender nor great shooter.

The prorated calculation 1/177 per day.

From what I can find , the official opening day was October 16, 2018 and the final day being April 10, 2019.

We are on day 114 leaving 63/177ths to pay.

We'll do two examples - Matthews and House

    Matthews , a 9 year veteran

9 year Vet Min is $2,176,260

    2,176,260 / 177 = 12295.25 * 63 = 774,600.75

House is a 2nd year player

2 year Vet Min is $1,512,601

    1,512,601 / 177 = 8545.77 * 63 = $538,383.51

Matthews would cost you $774,600.75 against the cap & House $538,383.51

The team is $877,610 below the tax line - You could get one but not both and stay below the tax.

    I took a nap …. I'm old.

It didn't make me get silent , it made me go do some math to figure out what's left below the cap and what it costs to sign specific players … If we had been $300k instead of $877k I'd have taken that bet but there is a bit of wiggle room … Just enough to fit one prorated contract.

I thought that was the original diagnosis 4 weeks ago. I thought he would be ready after the all star break

Not exactly true, you could sign House on the very last day of the season (to make him playoff eligible) and the only hit will be like $8k since you’re paying him for 1 day of service
