As an optimist at heart, Nobody is f-cking with the Rockets. Seems like a league wide conspiracy.

Minor move that lessens luxury tax but also marginally improves the roster.

bringing new players in is overrated and getting chemistry right and settling in the roles is underrated

perhaps but you need to overpay to get the value most of the time.... look how philly overpaid for the tobias..is morey willing to do that?

remember the last time he paid a hefty price he did get what he wanted

The year before last when we grabbed Lou Williams for a late 1st Round Pick.

if we can trade knight and chriss for anything in return, that would be a good trade at this stage.

Right. The only deal out there that's knowable that would move the needle against GS is trading for Anthony Davis and that's the longest of long shots. It's probably more likely we beat Golden State with the current roster than we actually trade for him lol.

We are signficicant underdogs against Golden State and would probably be underdogs against the team from the East in a finals matchup. Hell we shouldn't feel any strong sense of superiority at this point to any of the top tier of the West. Our defense is so prone to being awful that we could lose a series to anyone unless we are hot from 3.

Philly can overpay because A) they tanked for years to get quality assets in the pipeline, and B) they're in the East, so even a so-so deal can still catapult them into contention.

I'm not even sure what would constitute an overpay for the Rockets. They have literally zero quality assets outside of Harden and Capela.

    I predict:

    1) LT savings
    2) Acquire mediocre role player
    3) CFers point out that the Mediocre Player is mediocre
    4) White Knight CFers passionately defend the new mediocre player's honor, claiming that he is comparable to some Great Player and/or has only underachieved because outside forces have held him down and/or MDA's "system" will have him produce better
    5) Newly acquired Mediocre Player falls out of the rotation in a month
    6) White Knight CFers get upset at those who originally pointed out that Mediocre Player was mediocre by saying "I think you like when the Rockets fail just so you can say you were right!!!"
    7) We go back to complaining / cheering Max Kellerman

Exactly, which is why i'm hoping we start throwing assets at deals for younger guys (Oubre and Jaylen Brown stick out to me as guys who could be had) and vehemently against attaching a first in a Knight salary dump for expirings.

Knights contract flips in value in just five months. Morey knows this. The question becomes, whether or not Tilman can stomach paying taxes. I don't think he can.

Teams will be begging for Knight a year from now, giving us assets to take their 2 year contracts for his large expiring.

Still waiting for the Morey press conference:
“We had a few deals in place but nothing ever got too close”
