No, not today. Maybe August 26, but not now.

Agreed, along w/ the clutchfans.net homepage poll, everyone knows what the answer will be.

Every single one of ya'll saw how bad the Rockets are without Steve lastnight, ya'll have seen all season long that the Rockets go into slumps w/o him. Legite back-up PG or not, the starting 5 is nothing w/o Steve.

Ya'll questioned Steve's leadership, but the truth is that he is the closest thing to a leader we have. Yao is so obviously not ready to assume that role, he isn't even ready to be the focal point of the offense. When Yao gets to the point where Jake Tsak$$$$ doesn't punk him or other crappy centers don't push him to 8-10ft, we can't assume that Yao can take over the reins.

Like him or not, Steve is holding this team together and ya'll all know it.

I say keep francis and wait for yao to develop, unless there is a really good deal out there.

I would however consider trading mobley. I am so tired of seeing him do those throw the ball high over the defenders to split a double team crap.. which works like 1 every 10 times. How about just pass the ball????

I think the combination of steve and mobley in the backcourt is probably one of the worst in the NBA. I am not bashing mobley or steve, they are both quality players, but together, they are just horrible. They don't complement each other at all, and they just magnify their weaknesses.

Move mobley to the bench or something, when he was the 6th man back then, I actually liked cat and would cheer for him in the 4th quarter.

    Trade him.

I'm tired of waiting on his POTENTIAL to be a star, while in his own head he already is....

This has the potential to become very ugly. It is looking more and more like JVG and Francis cannot co-exist. Both have big, fat long-term contracts. Unless Van Grumpy decides to walk (or "pulls a Bob Knight"), I really don't know which guy has more power...

I would do that one in a second, but nothing below market value, and some people here think it is much lower than it actually is - the guy is seriously talented.

I voted yes because he consistently makes boneheaded plays, takes bad shots, and does not defer to the player who is hitting his shots. I have watched many Rocket games this season, and it's like seeing a perpetual repeat, especially in close games: Steve has the ball and, instead of passing to an open teammate, he takes a bad shot. I will say this, that if Jason Williams of the Grizzlies can learn to play under control (thanks to Hubie Brown), so can Steve.

Personally, I say get rid of anybody besides JJ, Steve and Yao. It would definetly take some work to get someone decent with those scrubs.

i know you are trying to be objective and level-headed. however, even if steve comes clean, i can't see him ever being worth the max as long as we are commited to yao being the centerpiece of the offense. i think management needs to make a stand and work with JVG to make the team flexible under the cap so it can mix and match role players that fit within his system. i look at how the patriots manage the cap and find character guys who are willing to lay low and sacrifice individual glory for the sake of the team. steve will never reach his potential when burdened with responsibility. JVG gave steve command of the team and a chance to lead and make his teammates better. he has not done so. i think this is a case where it might be better for all concerned to part company. this is not a knee-jerk reaction but a reasonable and necessary move.

He has no leadership quality whatsoever. It's like turning a Bohemian corporal into the Fuehrer. You know the result.

I got a feeling people are going to say this when Steve is in his 10th season too. The dudes a great athlete and that's about it. The only thing is, in his 10th year people aren't going to be saying he's a great athlete.

I thought this was worth repeating:
This is just the latest incident for Francis, who has struggled to adapt to Van Gundy's more conservative inside-out offense. Francis' numbers are at all-time lows and he's been complaining about how the team uses him.

I think this is why he still has a lot of value. There will be another organization out there who thinks his numbers are down because of Van Gundy's system and that Francis, an All Star, will flourish in another system and fill the seats... be their "big splash", if you will.

I didn't vote either in the poll, not having decided if we can get good value now rather than wait until the offseason when the base-year issues aren't in play, but I'll say I'm ready to see him gone. If the exception can be used on a great deal, then the Rocks should go for it. But we need to get value for value. I'm in the camp that says Francis is worth a lot more around the League than he's seen as being worth here.

Trade Francis, he is not concerned with anything but Steve Francis and will never be a winner. He's a whiner not a winner, thats why he's a Rocket now.

And we thought the Grizzlies got the shaft.

Don't wait. Do it now. Put a cap in him.

That TE is only going to get you crap. There's a buttload of expiring contracts out there competing. USE IT NOW. NOW!!!!

THEN move the rest of those losers for a new team that can really be coached. NONE of those ISO bozos should stay. Bye bye, Cato. Bye bye Cat. Bye bye Taylor. I don't care if it's for worthless garbage like spoon. Amputate that frickin gangrene.

I voted no. I say let him play the season out and if he doesnt learn/perform/grow up, then get rid of him. Steve would be perfect for an east team the way he is playing, he can go to some ****ty team and be the hero like T-Mac or Iverson.
