Jim Jackson is tied with Cuttino Mobley for three pointers made, now how come this guy is not in the three point shoot out for the all star game?

    Cat's shooting .384 from 3pt land, Jackson .412.

since last season cat has had a publicist soley to get a foot in the all star door. jimmy jackson probably didn't go to all that trouble.

How exactly does a publicist convince the NBA who to put in the 3pt contest?

The participants were decided before Jackson went on a 3pt tear recently, hitting around 50% night in and night out. He would be there if the participants were decided today, no doubt.

Because Cat was shooting better when the participants were decided. He has been slumping a little of late.

Mobley isn't in there for his stellar shooting. He's not a bad shooter, but he's 29th on the 3-pt % list. Even before his slump, he couldn't have even been in the top-15. I think the reasons he's there are:

    1. He's a prolific 3-point shooter, hoisting more than everyone (except Peja) that shoots a better percentage than him and yet he still has a decent %.
    2. He's a solid player and a long-time starter and has some name-recognition, unlike, say, Kyle Korver, who is #2 on the 3P% list.
    3. He actively sought inclusion with the NBA and publically campaigned for it as well. He probably had the Rockets petitioning on his behalf as well (Tim?).
    4. He's a likeable and sociable person who is likely good at working connections.

Jim Jackson also shoots a lot and well. But, he's only recently re-emerged as a legit player, didn't ask (publically at least) to be included, and had problems with burning bridges in the past.

It is amazing how our offense opens up the 3pt shot for our Small Forward. Jackson gets a ton of looks everynight. Luckily for us he is making a good percentage right now.

Can you imagine if we had a Rashard Lewis at SF with those types of looks?

I think it is clear that on this team with Yao Ming, the 1-3 players have to be able to hit the outside shot and 3pt shot, especially the Small Forward.

Exactly. Having a potential dominant center double teamed night in and night out, Rox IS in dire need of other two or three guys to hit the outside shot and 3pt shot making the opponent pay back for that.
