The thing is both can shoot the three very well for their position and spacing nor defense will be an issue. But they will own teams on the boards, defensively, and have the space to run any play on offense.

Simmons will always limit the growth of embiid due to his lack of shooting ability.

I don't think they're content at all. We're approaching a transition phase with the Warriors likely fracturing in some fashion at the end of the season (Klay to LAL, KD to NYK possibly?) and the Sixers are in as good a position as anyone to take over. Embiid is shaping up to be one of the most dominant 5s of the modern era and appears to be a foundational superstar they can easily build around. The Simmons rumblings have already begun and if the team falls flat in the playoffs, I see them pushing him on NOP as the centerpiece in an AD blockbuster this summer (AD also prefers to play 4, so it'd be ideal for him). And I think you hit the nail on the head with the Kyrie point... let Jimmy walk, execute a Simmons-for-AD deal, sign Kyrie. Kyrie-AD-Embiid seems decent, yeah?

Tucker isn’t Davis or anywhere close, but he’s not simply a warm body. 3-D guys like him aren’t a dime a dozen like Daryl thought. Basically sacrificing 3 legit defenders on a switch heavy defense for 1 guy. I’m not sure Davis is that much of an upgrade offensively over Gordon/Capela combo. Definitely not better than Capela rim runner/Gordon high key/Tucker corner 3.

He’s better than all of them individually but not collectively.

If Simmons could develop a jump shot, trading for Simmons wouldn't even be an option, but since Embid is the better player, I cant see how they would deal him, whats your reasoning?

Outside of Boston to me they are the clear favorites. Ujiri would even throw in Van Vleet as deep as they are. He needs to keep Kawhi and that does it. They have better play now assets with better deals than the Lakers assets that I always felt were overrated and he can include picks just like everyone else. Ujiri also has a smart and sneaky way of not letting his offers get out until the deal is practically done. He has great timing.

Agree with most of this. I find it strange though to lose someone like Anthony Davis and not get a single lottery pick back. However, another thing Raps do have is the 2022 pick. I know it’s far away but in the case they do lose Kawhi and AD that’s pretty valuable.

I have to say, if NOLA will not deal with LA out of spite (as suggested by Woj/Lowe in their ESPN article today), and if NOLA doesn't want this drama to continue into the summer (when Boston could come into play), then I believe an offer of Capela + picks is the best deal out there. Those are two big ifs, but they aren't outside the realm of possibility.

For AD I'd happily give them any asset including 4 completely unprotected draft picks.

But it only works out for us if they feel like they NEED to deal AD before the deadline and if they (NOP) will just refuse to trade him to the Lakers ALL while also honoring the teams he wants to play for.

I think AD would happily play here. I remember him saying his favorite player on 2k besides himself is Harden so there is that...plus c'mon NBA the duo sells itself. Beard and Brow.

He’s flatlined his trade value now with the rental news. Capela, picks and filler would be the only thing I would move. Then sign DJ and Matthews in the buyout market.

I think this is realistic. 76ers get Gordon and Nene to replace Chandler and Fultz? Done deal immediately.

New Orleans gets Capela, 4 picks from Houston (think we can get one from 76ers?) a young player with major potential, and two expiring contracts.

Now that AD has played his cards and says I am going to sign in LA in 2 years.

AND, on the hoop collective, Windhorst reports:

"Windhorst and Jackie MacMullan went on to talk about how NBA teams complain nonstop about how the Lakers "cheating", however they both agreed that this isn't the reason that the Spurs and Pelicans don't want to deal with the Lakers, the Lakers assets are simply not that interesting to executives around the league.
if this is true, it probably makes it unlikely that a deal to the lakers is done any time soon. "

So the question is, who is actually bidding on AD right now.? A rental is going to be unappealing to alot of teams. Celtics can't bid, and may not even want too anymore as a 1 year rental. Lakers assets are desirable, and they will be hesitant to bid if they know they are frontrunners in free agency.

I actually think this is lining up kind of favorable for the Rockets. 2 playoff runs with AD, when you already have Paul / Harden, might be worth a big package, especially if you could pencil in a chance he finds it comfortable here and wants to stay (not to mention the extra $$ from bird rights and state taxes)

We learned from the first Chris Paul trade, that Demps wanted vets rather than rebuilding pieces (Scola, Dragic, Odom), so maybe that is what appeals to them now?

How about an offer of Capela, Chriss, Gordon and 3 #1s for Davis and Hill's bad contract?

    Paul / Rivers / Knight
    Harden / Ennis / (Mathews?)
    Tucker / Green / (House)
    Davis / Clark
    (Jordon) / Faried / Nene

I don’t think Capela Gordon and picks is worth more than some combination of Siakam, OG, Van Vleet, Delon and salary and a 2022 pick which may be good positioning if they lose Kawhi and AD.

I get Capela is better than Siakam, but the gap isn’t as big as some may think, nevermind the fact that Siakam makes 1/8th of what Capela does, on top of the addition of a couple of those other young players from Toronto. Unless EG can net you something real real good for a rebuilding New Orleans in a three team trade, I think Toronto is ahead.

Before the deadline I would say it’s:
    1) Lakers
    2) Toronto

If Eric Gordon can net a good young point guard then we could appeal to New Orleans. That’s why I thought of the DLo trade but I can see why Brooklyn wouldn’t give him up.
There aren’t many good ones available.

So it will basically be Davis and Lebron....and dumpster juice???

ok.... The pelicans are ultra stupid if they dont do this TRADE RIGHT NOW.

This is a better haul than what the celtics will off giving they uncertainty of resigning in Boston.

    PULL THE TRIGGER DUMBA** demps.

It would be one and a half year rental if the Rockets got him by Feb. 7th. I say go for it. You have two playoffs to get a title with him. Just let him walk in summer of 2020 if he doesn't want to extend.

    I'd do it.

River can come off the bench, bring back House, I feel we contend this year if we do any of these trades involving Gordon and Capela.

One sit down with Hakeem will change his mind.
