The potential problem with this is that whichever team gets the #1 draft pick and gets Zion will probably suck, and then they may decide that having Zion at 19 and rebuilding with other draft picks would be better than Davis.
If they trade for Davis, he would be good enough to help them win a lot of games but not good enough, on his own, to be competitive. Then they wouldn't be able to continue getting good draft picks for the next couple of years- vs developing Zion for the next couple of years along with whatever other young players and picks they are able to get

Seems like he is just saying what needs to be said to keep his door open for a trade and prevent another contender from being made.

He either needs to tell the pelicans yes he will trade tatum if they dont win it all or no they wont trade tatum. This is anthony davis and a franchise player. Either he will or he wont. None of this on the fence bullshit.

Windy mentioned it, but I think they'll wait until the summer and target Ben Simmons after a rough Philly playoff exit with floor-spacing questions abound. His refusal to even attempt 3s is a big problem.

An AD-Embiid pairing would absolutely run roughshod through the East.

Yes, well, the big thing is that the team that gets Zion sucks...so why risk getting AD on a one year deal at all?

I'd rather hang on to Zion who could be a generational talent himself.

I could see the Knicks doing it because they do have Porzingis and his return and it being New York they may be able to convince him to stay...but if I'm a Knick fan I'd rather have Zion and the young team because cap wise it is easier to build your team this way. Sort of like how the Warriors did it...just drafting the right guys is the most cap friendly way to build your team.

Lonzo is trying to block the trade? Bulls and Knicks don't have equal value.

Would u still do it if Knicks have the pelicans additional assets after Lonzo was re-routed to them?
    A modern big: Mitchell Robinson
Ntilikina, and 2021 first from NYK for Lonzo

Why does Lonzo Ball think he has any leverage whatsoever as a rookie?

Should the Pelicans not deal Davis before the Feb. 7 trade deadline, the Celtics are prepared to offer a massive package, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Celtics are willing to offer Tatum.

Tatum and Al Horford for Davis/filler

Celtics can deal Hayward/3 Firsts for a good player.

Sounds good on the surface, but the team that needs Davis with only a one-year guarantee of his service is a team that's already a contender (or would be with AD). I'm assuming the team that drafts Zion is going to be in full-on rebuild mode. Why would they want AD and his salary for just one year when they can have Zion for several years on a rookie contract?

EDIT: Dammit, @photojoe and @JayGoogle got there before I did. o_O

good point guys. I think the scenario here would be Boston or some other team with crazy assets trading for that pick and using it for Davis. There is also the Kawhi scenario, I think he'll resign with the raps. Maybe a team will take the chance
