Aren't you the same poster that defended the Chinese genetically edited babies and thought it was so wonderful? You have a bit of a track record. Huawei has been accused a number of times of piracy and theft, inside and outside of the United States. Further Huawei has not choice but to turn over any information requested by the Chinese government. A number of countries have concerns about their behavior and other companies. If you really think this is because the Chinese company is superior, then you have some fantastical theories..... allegations of theft and spying go back against Huawei for almost a decade or more.
I would buy a phone or computer product from a company based in the sovereign, independent nation of Taiwan, but I'll pass on Chinese tech -- too many hackers.
I guess nobody use iphone in the US. why not cut ties with China once for all, if this cold war mindset is still so prevalent in the US?
Huawei tech is superior in some areas and others it is not. When it comes to 5G, it is ahead of any American company and that is a fact accepted by US policy makers and experts. This has nothing to do with whether I think Huawei is superior or not. I'm just saying the whole war on Huawei is all about the politics surrounding 5G. Huawei has done sketchy things in the past no doubt, but nothing different than any other major corporation, yet the US media coverage makes Huawei look like the worst company in history. If Huawei equipment is so terrible and a threat to national security, why does the US govt have to offer financial incentives to get other countries to stop using their equipment? This is all about politics and the US govt is just using fear mongering tactics to try to slow down Huawei's growth. https://www.theverge.com/2018/11/23/18108649/us-government-huawei-ban-allies-use-subsidies https://www.cnbc.com/2018/12/18/t-mobile-and-sprint-win-us-security-approvals-for-their-merger.html
Well sure. Like I said, two wrongs don’t make it and I’m an American and prefer not losing technological superiority due to theft and technology transfers for market access.
They are part of it, but I’m an American so I will side with America instead of an adversarial foreign government. China is promoting mercantialsm/colonialism, Cold War, and espionage in order to build its hegemony status. China also props up murderous dictatators to gain strength. I prefer the devil I know...
I see. its good for you. Just play your political game all you want. Hope you and your family can live well on your devil politics. I thought this was about economy, trade, technology.......I guess not. Yeah, "could be" is perfect for politics.
Lol. The world is all about geopolitics which includes economic, social, and political clashes. What are you, 11?
If it’s just “politics” then why does China steal so much tech and require technology transfer? Is technological superiority really just politics?
I believe the US, but it is a good thread. I have been wondering about this situation. Hard to really know for sure who is right, and if one side is 100 % right, or if it is to some extent also the pot calling the kettle black.
Now you're addressing China as a whole, which is a deeper and more complex topic. I'm just talking about Huawei the company, and the US govt's efforts to slow them down, which are centered around the politics of 5G infrastructure. The consequences of getting 5G deployment 1-2 years later than Asia and parts of Europe could have a big economic impact. 5G is going to render WiFi obsolete and the possibilities with IoT innovation are endless. Imagine what happens when other major markets get a 1-2 year head start developing new tech and applications for 5G. Maybe nothing will happen but it is also possible that the leading 5G-related companies for the next decade will not be American. That being said, I I think it is important to build our 5G infrastructure with as much US equipment as possible for security/accountability reasons. I am not familiar with why American companies are lagging so far behind in 5G. My guess is our government did not prioritize and help fund 5G R&D as much as other Asian and European countries. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/26/us/politics/huawei-china-us-5g-technology.html
Well that’s the thing about Huawei.... where’s the line between the Chinese government (state owned enterprises) and its “private sector” with their quasi command system economy? China’s advantage with 5G is that it can use its central government to scale up 5G and their fiber optics network. The US’s issue is lack of central planning for this and our private telecoms who operate like monopolies.
We all know that Chinese companies are trying to steal anything form anywhere to become good, but the Huawei thing is more than a simple tech issue. For the comment of "independent nation of Taiwan" Is this related to Huawei?
