    This whole thing even started while the GOP still controlled the House. The Senate passed a CR and the House was scheduled to vote on it until Trump intervened and Ryan backed down and cancelled the vote. There is no both sides on this issue.

    Oddly enough it seems that several of the Trump apologists we have on the bbs all suddenly lost internet access today. That sucks guys, I hope it gets restored soon.

    it's what they(foxnews) do, shaming the guy knowing he's watching, which will eventually lead to 'individual one' doing something more appalling in the near future. rinse, rinse, repeat. Even lou dobbs is kicking him. If I was Trump, I'd order nothing but biscuits from KFC and watch the new Ted Bundy doc to relax, maybe call hannity .

    In a government shutdown, the side refusing to open the government to force a change in policy will pretty much always lose. It's true today, it was true when Ted Cruz did his 2013 defund Obamacare shutdown, it was even true in the case of the 1 day DACA shutdown. Democrats in the Congress got some **** from the left for not holding the line for the DACA folks, but it was ultimately the right move not to extend it. Thus, the damage is fairly limited. In fact, even Cruz' 16 day shutdown ultimately was not an election-deciding event.

    This one, however, has the potential to be given its record-breaking length.

    Don't think so. Trump will either accept whatever Congress negotiates in the next few weeks, or declare the national emergency. Given the damage done to his popularity, I don't think he would put the country through this BS again.

    The thing is with that...

    I think the Dems are daring him to declare the emergency. I don't think that's a good look for him politically, first of all.

    Second of all. The courts can stop it and if they do...then that freezes his border wall until god knows how long.

    I think Schumer and Pelosi have been egging him on about doing this and I bet he takes the bait.
