Umbrella Corp is Taking Over Netflix with RESIDENT EVIL TV Series! Josh Millican Okay, we knew there was a Resident Evil movie reboot in the works that James Wan was once attached to produce (except he never really was) but late today brought news that a new TV series based on the popular horror game franchise is in the works at Netflix. This shocking announcement was first reported by Deadline who got the exclusive; Nellie Andreeva states. Netflix is developing a scripted series based on the hit action horror franchise. I hear the series will be a Netflix global original. German production and distribution company Constantin Film, which is behind the Resident Evil movies loosely based on the Capcom video game series, is the studio. Search is underway for a showrunner to shepherd the adaptation. If you’re wondering if this new series will be tied to the proposed reboot, the answer is: Yes! No one is commenting but I hear the plan is for the series to expand the Resident Evil universe and deepen the exiting mythology. I hear the series will keep the basic premise, which also served as a setup for the movie franchise.
Interesting. I'm sure the success of The Haunting of Hill House drives Netflix for similar content. I'm not really into horror but heard THoHH is really good.
Ditto, I thought the 2nd movie was about as close as they ever got to the video game....the rest were just worse and worse.... Really hope if they do this they stick to the feel of the first few games....
I honestly love the movies for the over-the-top cheesefest that they are. I'm not a RE fan by any means outside of appreciating the scope and artistic value of the series. Playing it scares the crap out me so I abstain.
RESIDENT EVIL Series Officially In Development For Netflix; Will Focus On Wesker's Daughters Confirming recent reports, Netflix has officially ordered eight episodes of a series based on beloved Capcom horror video game Resident Evil, with Supernatural's Andrew Dabb on board as showrunner... Mark Cassidy | 8/27/2020 Filed Under: "Horror" There have been numerous rumors and reports doing the rounds since late last year, and Netflix has now officially confirmed that a live-action Resident Evil series is in the works for the streaming service. Supernatural showrunner Andrew Dabb has been enlisted to oversee the the first season, which will run for 8 episodes. "Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time," Dabb said. "I'm incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first-ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before." Dabb is expected to begin working on Resident Evil once he wraps the final season of The CW's Supernatural. He will also exec produce alongside Constantin Film 's Robert Kulzer, Oliver Berben and Marry Leah Sutton. Bronwen Hughes (The Walking Dead) is set to direct the first two episodes. We also have a fairly detailed story synopsis, and it sounds like this show will be a big departure from the original series of games - although fans should recognize the protagonists' surname! The Netflix series will tell its new story across two timelines. In the first, 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world. The second, more than a decade into the future sees less than 15 million people left on Earth. And more than 6 billion monsters — people and animals infected with the T-virus. Jade, now 30, struggles to survive in this new world, while the secrets from her past — about her sister, her father and herself — continue to haunt her. As far as we know, a big-screen Resident Evil reboot from Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down) is still in development, but there's no mention of it here.
Interesting, it's kind of amazing this is just getting a series, not excited that it's on Netflix they have not had much quality OG programming lately.
Will watch if there's three seasons within 4 years. Half assed Netflix going down the crapper. If they want to **** can a show after one season they can at least scrounge up some spare change for a movie that ties up cliffhangers. A decent resolution is the whole ****ing point of parking your ass for 4-9hrs straight. Putting shows in suspended animation with the off chance of a revival after four five years is cancerous to their library
Agree, which is why I don’t have Netflix anymore. I’m going to re-up this summer when Stranger Things 4 concludes but until then, they can suck it.
Looks like a low-rent version of Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead. I thought the last movie was bad, but this looks even worse.
They must've saved a boatload of money by all the females in the show earning less than what they would've had to pay males. Before people get their panties twisted - I actually think it looks watchable. This to me looks better than the latest movie was.
