When the f*ck did this become a thing? I have *NEVER* heard of keeping this stat until they needed something else to Hate on Harden with Has anyone heard this as a stat before this year? Seems like a memo was sent to all media folx to start using this stat and phrase SMH . . . .Fricking Lemming 'Journalist' Rocket River
i look at it as a positive and it further shows the greatness of james harden as a scorer. not only is he putting up the greatest offensive season since wilt in terms of points, assist, and TS% but he's doing it WHILE CREATING ALL OF HIS SHOTS. he doesn't play with playmakers that can create shots from him and has a coach that is overly dependent on HOF players to make him look good.. he has to do it all himself. he's taking 17.6 3's per 1000 possessions while shooting a more than respectable 37% from 3 with only .115% of his 3's assisted. i can tell you right now, NOBDOY in nba history can do that. most people would shoot under 30% if they took the shots that harden takes.
It's being taken as both when I listen to broadcasts. I think most of these guys are delving into actually thinking about stats for the first time instead of going to ESPN's site and looking up numbers to spew on face-value. The fact he has scored so many points is incredible in itself, but then you consider that so many points have been scored without a single one being assisted, and it's remarkable. When I first saw the stat, I was like "no way". But, you can take the stat by itself in two ways : "Damn, that guy hogs the ball, and that offense is borderline unwatchable because of so much dribble, dribble, dribble/ISO" or "Damn, he basically is the offense - this guy is incredible". BTW, Eddie Johnson should be barred from broadcasts. He is a borderline idiot when it comes to talking about stats - he absolutely has no clue what in the hell he's talking about. To compound the travesty that is his brain, he has the "get off my lawn"/"back in my day" mentality about everything when it comes to Harden. Also, if you guys are listening to SiriusXM sometime tomorrow, I think Rick Barry will be asked about the Harden run and you know he's gonna piss all over it. lol.
Its a positive. The media would like to use it as a negative. What we need to do is take james last 5 years and compare it to MJ, Wilt, and Kobes best 5 seasons and lets see where James stands. The step back three is an unbelievable shot
Its just so unique that you have to mention it. But I can see how it can get easely twisted to a negative angle if the team doesnt succeed.
but the fuking media use it as a negative on Harden...he's a ball hog, he's selfish, he's a volume chucker... i think bspn started this narrative...fuking hate these bspn morons! if lebrick or curry doing what Harden's been doing, they will scuk on their dicks reall quick
If you are Harden, you invent stats. It's what you do. If you want to save 15% on car insurance, you switch to Geico. It's what you do.
Unassisted scoring means the guy can create his own shot and hit. That has to be a positive thing. It is true that from the team's point of view, if you have a guy who scores about 1/3 of all your points and all of them are unassisted, then that looks like this team's offense is pretty much a one-man show. That can't be a good thing for the team in the long run. Harden needs more help.
Unassisted scoring is even more harder to do. Which means Harden have to create his own shots and he is not getting any help from anyone. Which makes what Harden is doing now, more AMAZING and SUPER HUMAN
Yeah Nick Wright in that vid from yesterday contrasted it with how ALL Klay's buckets from a previous game was assisted, making the point he had to be fed, as opposed to Harden's much tougher task of having to create. The argument that he is selfish or whatever doesn't stack up at all when you look at who his teammates are.
On the other end of the spectrum, Klay had a game about 2 weeks ago where he scored 43 points on 4 dribbles. That's also pretty insane when you think about it.
It’s a positive no matter how they TRY and spin it. If you actually look at his assist, rebounds, steals, usage, unassisted scoring it a remarkable feat in whole. Which is why the Twitter narrative is so naive, ignorant and uninformed. The combined stats tell you this isn’t a fluke, system outcome nor selfishness....they just have to be willing to admit it
This is because they made rules to help him get free open looks Funny I see where . .. i think it was JaSon Sh!tlock was talking about the NBA should make a rule to prevent the iso by Harden God I hate that guy Rocket River
