Man this movie should be the best, most explosive, action packed, ass kicking, visually stunning and intriguing story the DB franchise has ever had. I really hope they don’t fall into the typical DB and hero story trap though: Broly beating everyone up, only to be destroyed by Goku (and company) who finds a way to power up (MUI x 20) or the worst possible scenario: fuse into Gogeta. While Broly in base form beating up Goku and Vegeta at 90% full strength is beastly, I fear they will repeat the scenario described above and they will just find a way to beat his full power form easily. Whis and or Beerus having some solution is also very likely. There is one more possibility that could go either way: Broly is brough back under control, hopefully having killed off Frieza forever. Then he can just become part of the good guys, God I would hate this OR actually serve (under Beerus) as a God of Destruction or something along those lines. Just killing him off or turning good would ruin this Broly comeback in my opinion. Still, it looks amazing and guaranteed will feature some epic fights!

I'll throw in my two cents as well. I'm a huge Dragon Ball fan and this movie, to me, is easily the best Dragon Ball movie to date. If you're a Dragon Ball fan in general, you need to watch this in theaters. The animation and action scenes are great and should be appreciated on a larger screen. Waiting for some of my friends to watch this to talk about the direction they series can go after this.
I really didn't see the need for the 40 minute backstory for the Saiyans. I'd give it a solid 7 of 9 based on the action.
I haven't seen it yet, but I'm pretty sure they had to retcon a lot of stuff to make Broly's back story "better" and to bring him into canon. Am I the only one who liked Broly's original backstory? Broly hates Goku so intensely simply because Goku was crying too much in the crib is a hilarious, ridiculous, unique backstory. I wish they would have kept it. The whole saiyan race is named after vegetables for goodness sake, keep the ridiculous backstories.
Makes sense. And yes that back story was amazing! This backstory circulated more around his hate for Vegeta. So same hate while addressing a different person for a different reason. Enjoy!
I thought the original Broly back story was stupid, what baby even remembers another baby next to him crying frantically. The new backstory makes way more sense. Movie was great, 10/10. Love how this sets up the future for Super. Best part of the movie for me? Gogeta is finally a confirmed galaxy buster!!
Movie was great, action was great, soundtrack was great. Broly was great(I thought that change of backstory made him way better as a character). Everything was amazing about this movie EXCEPT ..... I hate what they did to Bardock and the Sayin's backstory, even the way they had little Radditz and Vegeta were really dumb. As far as I'm concerned, the original Bardock movie was way better, while this one totally messes that up.
I definelty enjoyed Bardocks original portrayal better as well. I’m kind of bummed they retconned the Broly story but this movie wasn’t bad at all.
The only solace I take is knowing that this movie was suppossed to be 3 hours long haha, so maybe in a director's cut it would be ......eh, who am I kidding its not beating the original Bardock story haha.
This was the only film that felt like a real movie! The back story was great. Unfortunately with all the movies lately being 2-3 hours, this was the one that definitely would’ve benefited of running an extra half hour. The first part was now too long and the fighting part felt rushed. The latter was a bit of a bummer considering the hype for the strongest Broly form. It did not get to shine at all. Not once did I see Goku being scared or nearly defeated. It just didn’t feel like the OG Broly who had everybody scared. The tone of the first movie was darker, this one just didn’t. To me the trailer really oversold Broly. As soon as Gogeta came around, it was over. That being said, the fighting was easily the most gorgeous, colourful, close combat, toe-to-toe, visually stunning with great camera angles to boot and up there as best ever. It did suffer from some glitches, but man, that was top notch. Also the length did not disappoint though I really wished Broly would’ve killed at least someone and or pummelled Frieza longer. The humour was a bit over the top, but this film definitely had it all! It’s crazy though that Broly was in the end still not what they hyped him up to be. While I understand and respect the choice of Broly as an innocent boy overwhelmed by his powers. It worked, especially with those 2 from Frieza’s force saving him. Still, I would’ve liked Broly at least to also have learnt about Vegeta and wanting that revenge. If this is the end of Broly then it’s disappointing he only uses his natural powers. There is lots of potential of Broly becoming even stronger with the proper training. They didn’t really explain his power either and how it works, though they tried a bit with the Oozaru power honed in human form. All in all, very solid movie with some minor issues and a big one with Gogeta as the easiest unsurprising bail out. For a DB movie it was outstanding, I thoroughly enjoyed it and had the least plot holes, a real story and longest and greatest fighting scene ever.
