Rockets will pick in the lottery (wherever that may be) and 22 - Milwaukee's pick. They will not have a 2nd round pick. Dallas has ours. Here's the link: http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2001/0424/1185684.html ------------------ And then, depression set in... [This message has been edited by Jeff (edited April 24, 2001).]
That article says the Rockets also pick at #18. ------------------ Founder and President of the Houston Homers Club(HHC) - Are you a homer? Join now! The Rockets will be NBA champions. Believe. [This message has been edited by Puedlfor (edited April 24, 2001).]
Exactly. Wow. 3 first round picks in a fairly deep draft? Yeehaw. ------------------ Yugo grills, Yugo mills, Check out the oil my Yugo spills...
Can we possibly have #18 also? Damn I'll be dancing in the streets if that one is true... I would think 23 or 25 is best case scenario while #18 isn't accurate. Why would Orlando keep the 23rd and give up the 18th? Makes no sense... ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET [This message has been edited by Clutch (edited April 24, 2001).]
Yeah, that 18 pick changes everything, you may not be able to move up with just a lotto pick and a late first rounder. But with that extra first rounder a team that needs depth vancouver(preferably one with a crappy front office, also vancouver) might be willing to trade us a higher draft pick for those three picks. ------------------ Founder and President of the Houston Homers Club(HHC) - Are you a homer? It was a roundabout trip but this is what I think happened : New York owed Phoenix a first rounder from the King Kong trade, Phoenix owed Orlando a first rounder from the Hardaway deal(I think), Orlando owed us a first rounder. Thus, we have the 18th pick in the draft. ------------------ Founder and President of the Houston Homers Club(HHC) - Are you a homer? Join now! The Rockets will be NBA champions. Believe.
What's the difference in the rookie salary for the 18th and 22rd pick? Maybe they want to save some cap room. Is the difference significant? ------------------ [This message has been edited by tacoma park legend (edited April 24, 2001).]
#18 is EXACTLY what Vancouver wants, to give to Detroit, is it not? Very sweet. Clutch-beats me. Maybe there was some sort of unknown joint option, or protection? ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED IN THE JOE SMITH CASE THAT FORCED TWOLVES 2 GIVE UP PICKS....SORRY IM KINDA SLOW :CONFUSED ------------------ Proud President of the Whitey Deluxe (LANGHI) Fan Club
Great, now we'll be able to draft three Jason Collier Clones instead of just two. ------------------ Well that's it, the season's over. Protrolls.com! Actually starting to resemble a website.
I'm feeling generous. THE T-WOLVES SIGNED AN ILLEGAL DEAL WITH JOE SMITH. INSTEAD OF DOING IT "UNDER-THE-TABLE", THE T-WOLVES WERE STUPID ENOUGH TO ACTUALLY PUT SOMETHING IN WRITING. WHEN THE NBA FOUND SIGNED CONTRACTS IN VIOLATION OF THE CBA (COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT), THEY PENALIZED THE WOLVES BY TAKING AWAY THEIR NEXT FIVE FIRST ROUND PICKS.
BUT THEN, BECAUSE THE TWOLVES COOPERATED, THEY GAVE BACK THE FIRST ROUNDER IN '03. ------------------ Founder and President of the Houston Homers Club(HHC) - Are you a homer? Join now! The Rockets will be NBA champions. Believe.
JOE SMITH'S CONTRACT WAS ALSO VOIDED, AND HE LATER SIGNED WITH THE DETROIT PISTONS. THE T-WOLVES WERE ALSO FINED 3.5 MILLION DOLLARS. ------------------ To resist is to piss in the wind, Anyone who does will end up smelling, Knowing this why do I defy, Cuz my inner voice is yelling.
Salaries for those picks are:
#13 $1,149,500 #18 $ 889,500 #22 $ 751,500 ----------------- $2,790,500
The more the merrier, but we can we keep them all if we are going after Webber. I look for only one of them making it to camp, possibly a trade for a future pick, once again, thus deferring your salary cap hit another year. Do you think the Rockets will keep all their picks or package together some of them/players to move up in the draft? If they really like someone, I see them moving up. ------------------
