Do the Rockets have the best defense in the NBA?

The Rockets DO have the best half-court defense in the league. The proof? Look at our turnovers. As Chaser mentioned, we give up 15.6 turnovers per game. Those go directly against our defense, which is still top 3 even giving up bad turnovers.

If we could take it down to 12 TOs per game, we would have the best defense in the league by far. I think we are going to be able to do it by playoff time too. *crosses his fingers*

These particular "offensive efficiency" and "defensive efficiency" stats came from a gambling website which for now shall remain anonymous. But you can find your own with a decent search.

The difference in efficiency margin between the Rockets and the league leadings Kings is as insignificant as Steve Francis shooting fractionally better than his current 28% from the arc, Yao going aggressively to the basket for an "and 1" or (like you mentioned) the team having 3 fewer TO's/game (43.5% * 3 possessions * 2 points = + 2.61 ppg).

They are that close!
