This is an older clip in which austin rivers shows a likable side that we never saw. He not only defends CP3, calling him one of the greatest point guards of all time, regarding comments that Big Baby made about him being a ball hog, but he also shows great restraint against Big Baby, who slandered austin’s dad, as well as austin and his ex-teammates. He basically says that he still says hi to Baby and wishes him the best. Good on him. I like this guy.
He can be liked or disliked all he wants but his jumper tear drop remains to be high and ugly. Never mentions Harden once when talking about elite points.
Meh. I don't like his personality, and don't care that I don't like it. Everyone has likable public moments, even Kevin Durant. Rivers is a good basketball player for the price and helpful to this team, that's what matters.
He has certainly come to the team with the right attitude. I’m sure that was at least in part do to some modicum of self awareness that 1). He’s perceived as a douch around the league, and 2). That CP3, Harden and PJ aren’t gonna put up wit any ****. But I do like the fact that he’s putting his head down and playing hard instead of flapping his gums. As far as the D...that’s the one positive I figured we were getting. Any son of Doc Rivers is gonna defend. No doubt that so far, the decision to sign Rivers looks good. Im glad to eat crow if he keeps this up.
I want to hear more of his podcasts. I remember reading that he wanted to interview Chris Paul for it. That would be interesting.
Pretty much this. He's still an obnoxious d-bag, that hasn't changed. But he's helping us win ballgames. If he played poorly he would be public enemy. You won't find a better guy than Ryan Anderson, but he was terrible and overpaid so people s**t on him. I hate when people equate level of play on the floor with character.
I'm conflicted. Part of me still wants to hate him, but I can't anymore. I spoke to him briefly when he went back into the tunnel last night after the pregame warmups. I said, "We're happy to have you on the team, Austin." He smiled and said, "Man, I'm so happy to be here." Very sincere and friendly. And part of me STILL wanted to say, "You're lucky to be anywhere, you punk!" But I kept it inside, and then he hit a buttload of threes for MY team in the first half. Let's say I'm still adjusting to his presence on the team.
Some players still don't consider Harden a PG, just a great passing / playmaking SG. Semantics, but that's the reality. A lot of guys won't mention Harden when talking about PGs.
It's odd though because he shot 37.5% / 4.9 3PA in his last 135 games as a Clipper, but a lot of people still think about him like he's a 30-33% 3PT shooter or something. It's a perception vs reality thing I guess.
They should, mang. He started out as a SG but he made plays as early as on them Thunder. Now he combines playmaking with scoring. He isn't pure PG but if you consider Steph and Lillard PGs you should consider him a PG. They assist less on possessions.
I'm rather new to the Rockets fandom, so other than the Clippers/Rockets situation last season, I don't understand at all why he's so hated.
