Even when his step backs are predictable—eg the game winner over the Warriors—not even two defenders can stop him. He gets elite separation or forces the defenders to foul him. He doesn’t get blocked often.

man... idk why so many people on here get so butthurt about people's takes on harden and are just looking for something to cry and whine about... smh....

The guys says flat out that Harden is 'the best player in the league...' and 'deserves the MVP so far this year...'

oh but he doesnt kiss his arse enough for you guys... lmao....

Wtf do you guys expect? For him to be declared the GOAT with no qualifiers or mention of anything remotely negative? Talk about unrealistic expectations... lol

Like if the Houston Chronicle were to write an article about Westbrick or somebody deserving to be the MVP you would expect it just to gush about how great he is with no mention of anything negative or questionable - get real....

Folks need to get over it and just accept a compliment... lol

Everyone recognizes that hes praising Harden, which a lot of writers have done. It's just interesting he couldnt praise Harden without doing it so clearly begrudgingly. His begrudging nature is seen in several lines of the article, which he didnt include in any of the other MVP candidate profiles.

From a Jazz fan, I'll take it lol

Come on. There's a lot of hate on both sides. We got 2 titles, they got nothing. I'm cool with this. I'm not cool with analysts acting like they are being objective making poorly thought-out arguments about Harden.

its a rival teams city paper... regarding a guy that has been a perennial thorn in their teams side...
Like you'd expect to see an article in The Chronicle with nothing but praise for Malone or Stockton back in the day....?

When somebody makes declarations such as someone being 'the best player' and 'deserving the MVP' when its so obviously against their personal interests or desires... imo thats an even bigger compliment... Compliments given through gritted teeth are even sweeter imo... lol

I love how people say they "hate" watching Harden. Um, yeh.... relentlessly attacking the rim, hitting 3s, post/mid-range game, high assists, betters his teammates, good low-post defender, top 5 in steals, triple doubles, leads a winning team, doesnt cause drama, gets to the line and hits his FTs, and even comes up with blocked shots and rebounds inside....

His weaknesses are turnovers, perimeter defense, and dribbles too long at times.

Like.... yes, like any player he may have a few weak parts of his game, but his positive play is OVERWHELMINGLY GOOD.

SOMETIMES he is hard to watch (ISO too early near end of games where we have a lead), but MOSTLY he is incredible to watch. Small truths become large media and it's just jab jab jab at those negatives. If hes so predictable, then stop it. If he gets to the line too much, stop fouling. He doesnt "always travel", he rarely if ever "flops" (it's funny that Lebron fans somplain about this lol), and his game is earned. He's a strong mfer with few weaknesses and incredible upside, and deserves recognition.

I hope the other night is a turn for him - if he can be clutch in the playoffs, then hopefully he will stop the spin and lead us to a title some day.

I don't even know why you guys are mad. You didn't feel the same way when Nowitski won it? And if you're old enough to remember; you didn't feel like this when Karl Malone won it? I certainly did. Although I still don't think Karl Malone deserved it. Dirk did though. And ****, it still hurts to acknowledge that.

Not really, he's predictably unstoppable. You see him coming but you are helpless.

It could happen that he pass the ball to the other team with turn over (not predictable). It is predictable that you either score or miss the ball when you shoot. That prove that Jame is super talented star even he is so predictable that he can still score 33 points a game according to the salt lake trivia.

Harden is a basketbaok genius. Just like every year, the league has something new for the game rules, Harden develops new ways of getting ahead. That step 3 of his wasn’t as much used a couple of years. Remember then it was all about dangling the ball and bait you to foul him while he is driving. It was all about that euro step and cut to different angle toward the basket. Now it’s that quick between leg dribble and step back 3 and Clint. What a genius. He is like a technology company that keeps innovating his game.

    Of course it's predictable.

It's like say Hakeem was predictable. He either fakes right then turns left for a jump hook, or fakes left then turns right for a turnaround, or fakes right and left and spins to the basket for a dunk.

Even better, they used to say that Earl Campbell what so predictable. He either goes right or goes left or goes down the middle.

1st and 10 - give the ball to Earl...
2nd and 6 - give the ball to Earl...
3rd and 2 - give the ball to Earl...
we got a first down.. cool give the ball to Earl...
    repeat...

Everybody knew Earl was getting the ball... couldnt nobody stop it... so predictable... lol

Utah will never give any credit to Houston for anything when it comes to basketball. Our rivalry with GS is huge, but the Jazz is our most consistent rival. Karla, Stockton, Sloan and the rest of the floppers have left a big imprint on their psyche. It's sad to see that they can't respect Harden's brilliance.
