That's the thing, not having a longer winning streak than teams that have a worse record tends to mean that they also had longer losing streaks. So look at the bright side of it, we did not have a 10 game losing streak either.
ZRB and A-Train, sittin in a tree Kay-eye-ess-ess-eye-in-gee First comes love, then comes marriage... then comes a baby in a baby carriage.
You never know, anything can happen from here on. An injury here, a trade there and a complete meltdown within our team. One or all of these things happening could change our season. This time last year everyone was so high & excited about being in the playoffs. Although I'm optimistic, I hope history doesn't repeat itself.
...ahh, I knew SOMEBODY would stick up for me...I can't believe I actually hated this guy at one point. BTW, what ended up being the final results for that poll on the Rockets website that asked if the Rockets would beat Miami? My last count had it 98% to 2%...I guess that makes us misunderstood geniuses... About gucci's post: 1) Seeding means NOTHING at this point because the West is so tightly packed. One three game skid, and we're barely clinging onto the #8 seed. 2) "Well on our way to 50 wins"? According to my calculations, the Rockets current .591 winning percentage equals 48 wins. 3) I'll give you that one 4) Improved "drastically"? HA! Last I checked, the Rockets were still 26th in scoring average, 16th in field goal %, and 28th in assists 5) You're the only person that thinks Steve is playing like an all star I seem to remember everybody thinking we were a lock for the playoffs after the Laker game last season. I won't go so far as to predict a complete meltdown, but until I actually see that little 'x' next to Houston in the Chronicle standings, I'm not taking anything for granted. If the Rockets DO miss the playoffs by one game again, they just might look at those "streak breaker" games and wonder to themselves what might have been had they played decently those nights...
Oh I would love a 20 game winning streak but I have some difficulty getting pissed about the absence, so far, of a long winning streak when there are so many clear positives about the team's play. I like the fact that we are the only western team to beat indy in indy, so far. I chuck up the Heat loss to the schedule and to a certain extent, I blame JVG for it. It was absolutely crazy the amount of minutes he played his starters in the Orlando game. JVG probably had a plan, as crazy as it may sound. If he had to chose which game to win, I think he would choose the Kings over the Heat. Probably he wanted to get a better performance in this game vs the Kings. A-Train, I do get excited about winning 10 in 14 too.
A-Train, on responding to #4, regarding improvement, it would have been better if you compared our numbers in the last ten games versus our first ten games. In addition, the bottomline is the difference between us and our opponents and you will see that we are in the elite when it comes to shooting and rebounding numbers. So while we may be 26th in scoring, we are top 5 in scoring differential.
Who is the more pessimistic poster on this board? ZRB or A-train? Somebody should make a stats on how many games ZRB or A-Train predicted before the game that we are going to win.
Whether I believe Steve is playing like an "All-Star" or not, he is still starting. The Fans voted for him and that's it, they want to see him play, why try to take that away from him? And you can't tell me that our offense hasn't improved since the beginning of the season, we are getting there (better passing), but its not going to happen overnight. Anyways, people will always have disaggrements. Sure SA went on a 13 game win streak, but their defending champions and have also went 5-5 the last 10 games. As well as Memphis has been playing, they are still behind us. When you lose 7 in a row, you better get on a winning streak. I will take consistent b-ball over streaking wins and losses anyday.
Long winning streaks ar nice but not neccessary. The team is evaluated on their last 10 games. If they win 6 or 7 out of 10 games consistently they are fine
Well, it's happening again. Steve had that breakout game against the Lakers last season, then the Rockets went on to play poorly the rest of the way. This year, it is Yao that had the breakout game against the Magic, and the Rockets are once again letting it slip away. We're now just a paltry 1/2 game ahead of Denver for the 8th spot. When the Rockets miss the playoffs (again), I expect apologies from each and every one of you, as well as a line in your signature proclaiming my genius.
