I have thought all along, that the only thing that would keep Webber from leaving Sac-town is a deep playoff run. I also though a 1st round exit would ensure it

Kings lose by 3, Phoenix is on top of their game, at the right time of the year (ala - 95 Houston Rockets...who were also a 6 seed). There are still 4 games left, but the fact that Phoenix is playing so well now, and also that Sacramento has not been known for their playoff comebacks, has me believing that Webber is already starting to pack up his belongings, as he head's home after today's game...

Now, whether he comes to Houston....you guys can discuss that in one of the other 50 threads...

If he's not good enough to step it up and beat Phoenix, why would you want him?

TheFreak makes a good point here. I was watching most of this game. I have not seen a great deal of the NBA this season, becuase I don't have cable and don't go to many games. But since everyone else was fawning over Webber constantly, I thought I would join in. His numbers sounded great. But I was not at all impressed with his play today against the Suns.

He seemed to settle for the outside jumper far too often (Mo Taylor proportions). He didn't post up much despite having a size advantage on nearly every Phoenix defender they sent against him. Also, there were several cases when the man he was defending went right around him, with Chris barely moving his feet. Personally, it seemed that the only benefits he had over Taylor are that he has a slightly better post up game, and rebounds better. But since Taylor is young, he might develop a better post up game (don't count on better rebounding).

If he can do this, we can improve on our rebounding deficiencies through other means, and then we would have filled our PF need much cheaper than with Webber.

I am starting to wonder if I would rather have Taylor and Dream, or Webber and Cato... If we get Webber, there is the off chance that we won't be able to sign some of our leaving FAs... such as Mooch and Bull.

I say now odds are 1 in 5 Cwebb ends up in Houston . If Sactown doesnt get to the second round , CWebb is gone for sure .
If they lose to the Lakers in 6 games or less , Cwebb will still leave . Lose in 7 games C-Webb makes decision later in off season .

Webber's ankle(s) is/are still bothering him. He's been sluggish since his last ankle injury. So thank you, Karl Malone, for taking the time to "inadvertently" step on Webber's ankle. You may have changed the landscape of the NBA.

None of our players even got us to the playoffs so why do we want them?

Webber isn't 100%, but it's not an excuse. He did not have a good game... but I don't think Webber has a history of choking in the playoffs (botched timeout at Michigan aside). I loved how he played against the Jazz/Karl Malone two seasons ago in the postseason...

also, I heard that Webber blamed the game on Rick Adleman's coaching. That just makes his decision a little harder. [IMG]

Here are some reasons i have come up with that Cweb will not be comin here:

    1) He will end up playin center (repeat of Washington... i dont think he wants that)

    2) He wants to go to a contender...no offense....he wants a team that is sure 2 be in the off season...

    3) JAson Collier and Cato are not franchise type players we can rely on for center....

on reason #3, that is why Dream is vital for the next season.. He is easily can a 12-16 points, 7-9 rebounds, 1 block a game

I'm sorry, Clutch, but I just don't agree with the spirit of your post here.

Webber was watching. It was as if he, like his teammates, was just waiting for himself to do something.

The man is a loser. Strong position, but that's my gut feeling. I don't want him on my team...certainly not for his asking price.

Fair enough take, but if that's true then Webber certainly won't be going to NYC either. The Knicks would most likely have to include Camby in any sign n' trade for Webber, so they'd have a worse situation at center than the Rockets. Also, if NY has to do a sign and trade for Webber, then they're not a sure contender either(even in the East).

Personally, I very much like the idea of adding a guy that can put up 27pts and 15rebs and still have people consider it a terrible game. Even when Webber is having a bad game, he's better than anything we currently have.

    "The man is a loser"

Webber is sure as hell no loser. He took the Kings from doormats to contenders. He may not come here but why would just about every team in the league want such a "loser"? Lets see where the Kings are next year without him if he goes. If we can get him we will contend. The Suns havent finished the Kings either. CWebb may still have the last laugh on Kidd & Co.

How can people say CWebb is a loser based on one (27 point, 14 rebound) playoff game? Like Clutch said, its not like we even made the playoffs this season with the current squad, and I don't remember any of our players (except Dream) advancing far into the NCAAs, let alone winning a championship.

by looking at the game yesterday, you can tell that webber's ankles are bothering him, but yet he still had 27 points and 14 rebounds. if you can call him a loser because of that than i would love that loser on my team. the main reason for sacramento losing the game was not because of webber, not because of bad coaching, and not because of j will ill-advised desperation heave with 7 sec. it was because of shawn marion great defense on peja. he completely took him out of his game by attacking him on the offensive end and wearing peja out with his hussle and positioning for rebounds. also, because jason kidd is more offensive minded.

p.s. cuttino mobley does have some experince being that he and tyson wheeler took rhode island to the elite eight in college, and mobley was the point guard in the l.a. series in our last playoff appearance.

Vlade Divac said on the Jim rome show on friday that he thinks Cwebb has already made up his mind. he doesnt know what that is but for some reason he thinks Cwebb knows.
you think webber would be pursuaded if we draft one of the centers in the draft? woods or haywood.. do you think they are better than collier and cato?

Who said it was based on one game?

We'll continue this conversation after the Suns have advanced to the second round of the playoffs.

Webber at 80% is better than Mo Taylor . I'll take Webber and let us get 55-60 games , wouldnt hurt .
