Hey guys whats up, I have been looking at colleges lately, and I really wanna get out of Montana lol. My uncle manages Pappa Deaux (sp?) in Dallas and has invited me to come live with him. I have been looking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. I have been to Dallas before and enjoy it, (a bit more than Houston). But I have only been for vacation, so if you are a resident, have been a resident or have attended SMU any opinions you have would be appreciated.
I live by the SMU campus and it has been great. It's a 20s-30s area and it's pretty active when school is active. There are a lot of places in the SMU area that are close by: groceries, restaurants, department stores, malls, etc. And the girls....DAMN. Tha's all I gots to say.
Bah! SMU kids are a snotty, stuck up bunch who drive around in the BMW's that mommy and daddy bought for them...
SMU is a good school, and the area around the school is very pretty (and upscale). Personally, I love the Dallas area, but I grew up in Amarillo and originally went to college in Lubbock, so I don't have a whole lot to compare it to.
blah on SMU unless your into living with a non-diverse group of mostly white rich kids. There is more to consider like the academics and I am sure that is just fine. Just depends on what kind of experience you are looking for and where you would feel most comfy and able to exceed at school (or party your arse off)
For some reason I take offense to this and I am not usually like that. What is wrong with being around white people? If I as a caucasion made a negative comment about a place and the reasoning behind it was because it is populated by mostly <add minority here> people, I guarantee that I would be called a racist. I just find that incredibly hypocritical and it pisses me off. Maybe I am just touchy today and if so I apologize.

ya may of missed my qualifier, "Just depends on what kind of experience you are looking for..." and it is a legit characteristic of a school to consider I think, as the demographics of the student body will go towards determining where any individual would feel most comfy for example, TSU is almost all-black and that would be a quality that I as a white-guy would consider before enrolling there, I don't think that is "racist" in the negative way....... if your looking to interact with a diverse studybody and be exposed to different points of view, they of course you would want to consider schools that had a more diverse student-body than a SMU would offer there is nothing wrong with SMU or any private school of mostly white kids in and of itself
