My version (had to include the same grammatical errors):

What is comes down to is the question of if it is worth it to cater to the tantrums of Trump just to give him a small victory at the expense of taxpayers when the wall was originally to have been paid for by Mexico. To many Trump supporters, that answer is probably "yes", so when Trump causes the government to shut down, i don't want to hear anything about it. The ONLY reasons he is causing the government to shut down are because 1) he is going against what he promised in his campaign, 2) he said he would take the mantle for it, and 3) he is stubborn. Trump supporters don't want to give common decency a victory, it's 100% political lunacy, so they'll have to own that.

    Typos aren't grammatical errors.

It's funny how often you think you are "calling me out" or "exposing" me given how most of the time it's simply you disagreeing with me and saying things that make me laugh at you. Either way, I guess we should just agree to disagree, but thanks for the laugh.

I teach grammar professionally so I know you have at least 3 grammatical errors that are not typos. But, by all means, do acknowledge THAT part of the post.

Fair enough. I'll own up to legitimate grammatical errors made in casual off the cuff comments. I just wanted to point out that the most obvious was a typo.

Lol at the desperate tone about Democrats not allowing Trump to have a "small victory." The facts (if you look at the polls) is 1) Trump's wall isn't popular, 2) shutting down the government over the wall isn't popular, 3) Trump said he would own the shut down to build the wall not so long ago, and 4) Both the GOP Senate and GOP House were ready to pass a continuing resolution with no wall funding until a day ago when Trump changed his mind after signaling readiness to sign it.

So, I don't think anything is going to shift who the voters blame in a few days when the **** hits the fan.

Even a GOP House member admits it:

Trump also promised that Mexico would pay for the wall. He is choosing not to hold to that promise. He promised to take the mantle and accept responsibility for the shutdown but isn't keeping that promise either.

Do yourself and all of us a favor and stop trying to portray Trump as someone who tries to uphold his promises and who's word means anything.

You can focus on that if you want, but the point is that if he fails to follow through on building the wall, that's a promise that would actually hurt him....no matter who pays for it. I'm talking about what matters to his base, you are talking about what matters to those who despise his every move no matter what it is. Only one of those things matter.

Trump is an egotistical con artist who has spent his entire life hating on minorities, screwing people out of money, and taking no blame for anything he's ever done that failed. Which is A LOT.

What surprises any of us about any of this?

Can't believe there are still people defending this clown.

Maybe it's better to shut the government down than to have this moron ruining (sorry I misspelled running) this country.

If the government is shutdown, there will be an effect on the economy. Here's what the result of the two-week shutdown in 2013:

What? Randomly and arbitrarily deciding which promises would or wouldn't hurt him is silly. I'm talking about following through and not following through on promises. Trump doesn't follow through 99% of the time. To choose some attempt to follow through on only part of a promise and act like he cares about keeping his word is nonsense.

Once again, the shut down is a bastardized version of a common business tactic Trump has used his whole life. When he wants something, he'll use his money to outlast those that can't stay in the game as long as he can.

He's trying to mount pressure on Congress to give him what he wants because federal employees will start missing money.

It's kind of like in the past when he's paid hired workers 1/3 of the salary he contracted them for, and then took them to court with his lawyers on staff and ordered them to drag the cases out until it wouldn't be worth it for these people to try and get their money back.

He's done this time and time again.

Nothing this guy does is anything he hasn't done in the past.

Mark Zandi, chief economist for Moody’s Analytics, said the 2013 shutdown stunted fourth quarter GDP growth by 0.5 points, resulting in a $20 billion hit. Standard & Poor's said the shutdown took $24 billion out of the economy and reduced yearly fourth quarter GDP growth by 0.6 percent. Macroeconomic Advisers estimated the shutdown cut 0.3 points off of fourth-quarter growth

sounds like an argument for coughing up $5 billion for a wall  consider it an economic stimulus and infrastructure move . . . how much was the Obama recovery act in 2009?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Recovery_and_Reinvestment_Act_of_2009

again, not a big fan of the wall. but it takes two parties to tango. This is as much Chuck's fault as it is Donald's
