The Astros should walk away if the price is too high. I feel bad for JT Realmuto, A really badly run, Broke Owners taking over the Organization. After Jose Fernandez boat crash, the team is trading away NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton, NL MVP Christian Yelich, A solid player in Dee Gordon
J.B Bukauskas and smaller pieces are better than other offers. Astros do have the most Top Prospects.
As you will see in the coming days, the price for realmuto is in fact too high for Lunhow to agree to. This will drag on a while longer and its not likely that houston will part with prospects that miami wants. We have offered tucker JBB and another lower level guy. They were shot down without a counter offer from what I heard. Miami is playing this way too hard after what they got for Stanton and are digging their heels in. Expect a pitcher deal before anything significant regarding realmuto
Wow, if they turned down our #1, #4 and another asset, then I think we move on to something else like a stud SP.
A Starting Pitcher a younger Power Pitcher by Free Agency, a Different Catcher if not Realmuto, Lefty Power Pitchers in the Bullpen. Still waiting for Nelson Cruz a Power Hitter is needed in the Middle of the Lineup. Carlos Correa is so injury prone and inconsistent, he needs to have a breakout year big time. I was all about Prospects and developing them but after the Red Sox Loss and the way that Umpire Joe West Screwed the Astros, I want to go all out, but don't go overboard.
Two teams with the largest payrolls and deepest postseasons had rookies of the year become the faces of their franchise the last couple of years: Bellinger, Seager, Judge. Why the Astros would trade one away that has every indication of being one is beyond me, especially when they DON’T have one of the largest payrolls in baseball.
I understand the point you're trying to make, and I probably lean toward keeping Tucker instead of giving him up for Realmuto. But I don't think you can possibly compare Tucker to Bellinger, Seager or Judge. Those guys each had all-time great rookie seasons. It's not very common for a rookie to come in and become the face of the franchise that fast. I still think that Tucker can be a really good player, but let's not get ahead of ourselves by comparing him to those three guys.
He may end up as a reliever, but his secondary pitches looked pretty strong on his secondary offerings at the end of the year. The only issue he has was home runs and that is a command issue. If he did become a reliever, he would not be a usual reliever. He would likely be able to regularly go multiple innings. Having said that, I know what common trade publications have ranked and stated about James. However I will tell you that within the Astros organization they view him much higher. They do not view him as a prospect in the 75-100 range, but closer to the top 20-25 range. So, unless they went back over the winter and found something concerning, I would be surprised that they move him. Ever if he is a #3 starter, with 4-5 years of control, the Astros will value him greatly.
Feliz' issues are between his ears.......... the same for Martes. Feliz has really poor concentration and a poor work ethic. Martes is stubborn and success went to his head. I think Martin has a shot at being a #1-2 starter, but it would take some luck.
I like Martin; don’t see him with a #1 ceiling, but he could be a #2 if everything goes right. Other than Whitley, I don’t think there’s a pitcher in the system with that kind of ceiling. I am looking forward to seeing Tokar once he comes to the US. There are quite a few guys who have pretty high ceilings: Martin, Bukauskas, Ivey, Abreu, Schroeder, Solis, possibly some of the intl guys like Ramirez, Jaquez, Macuare, Jimenez.
