This could be pretty cool. There needs to be a vehicle on each end of the court. It flashes the highs and honks whenever an opposing team is about to shoot a free throw. Maybe then the Rockets can experience some home court advantage.

Ok, the free throw idea I can handle, particularly if the lights shine right onto the line so the shooter is blinded. Otherwise this would be one of the most annoying things ever. This isn't hockey or baseball where scores are rare enough to be special. This may be in the plans.. but I hope not.

If they give away a car/truck every time the rockets score, now that would get me going to games...

Gee I hope they use the Prius or the Echo.

Say, that would be a good promotion gimmick. Screw the free T-shirt giveaway that they throw into the crowd, how about throwing the keys of the vehicles inside TC.

Still in the plans, but they have not coordinated exactly what the truck will be doing. Obviously, it would be painful if it honked for each and every basket - they are still working with game operations to decide the best use of this feature.

After Miami, they need a AAA wrecker pulling up to it to change the flat tire and jump start it....

For those interested..........this is the official plan.

    Toyota Opens In-Bowl "Tundra Zone"

The "Tundra Zone" at Toyota Center, the newly named Houston Rockets and Comets arena in Houston, TX, is the first in-bowl vehicle display in the country. Toyota Center will serve as the home to Houston’s professional basketball franchises and the American Hockey League’s Houston Aeros, as well as for entertainment shows.

The “Tundra Zone” consists of a double-size suite, which will accommodate Toyota customers. The signature element of the ‘Tundra Zone” will be the placement of an actual Toyota Tundra in the suite, marking the only in-bowl vehicle display in any arena in the country.

What a freaking eyesore! The word tacky also comes to mind. As if it wasnt ENOUGH to have Toyota vehicles strategically placed throughout the arena....

For the love of God this isnt Fred Haas Toyota - Its a damn basketball arena!!!

From what I heard from those close to the project...............

"The vehicle will make its presence felt!"

So expect the horn honking and the high beams flashing.

The plan was developed to be a similar celebration to MMP and their train.....(which might soon take on the name Nolan Ryan Express to honor Ryan)

Also, they were thinking about facing the tailgate end towards the arena bowl and using the bed of the truck as a seating area for those in the suite to actually watch the game from. But those plans were scrapped becuase it was believed that the truck wouldnt have made its "presence felt."

So now the plan is to place the Tundra (flareside model) as you see in the pic (frontwards) and use the trucks seating as a unique place to watch the game.

Dont expect a base model either.

Expect the truck to be real fancy with all the nice trimmings........running boards, chrome rims, nice paint job etc...........to attract attention and pique the potential buyer's interest.

    :)

Sorry Tigereye, you're close, but not correct.

The picture is merely an artist rendering and thus a "concept" of how it MIGHT look. In all actuality, the truck is seated behind the 24 seats in the double-suite and no seating was ever considered to be inside the bed.

I hear this is the prototype and soon everyone will be driving them. I am little concerned about all the honking during game time. Some people could get upset.

I'm just waiting for them to open up a Service Center so I can get an oil change while watching a game.
