I believe that Rush, just like every other drug "offender," SHOULD get treatment for the problems that they have rather than incarceration.

That being said, it is clear that Rush will do everything possible to massage the system to get as lenient a sentence as possible given his resources, as is the right of every defendant in our system. This case illustrates very clearly the racism and class warfare that is rampant in the drug war. Poor people and minorities have virtually no chance to get the breaks that Rush is seeking and regularly get the max sentence because they have public defenders who simply do not have the time to defend their clients properly. Rush even said it:

"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use, too many whites are getting away with drug sales, too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too."
-- Rush Limbaugh. October 5, 1995 show transcript.

Of course, the solution is not to put more whites in jail (which would cause a major uproar, I mean can you imagine the mob scene that would ensue if the cops did a drug sweep in the Woodlands or Clear Lake like what they do in the wards?), it is to end this ridiculous war on the American people. Drug use and availability is at an all time high (pun intended) because we do not think about whether our "solution" is doing more harm than good.

Prohibition does more harm than drug use ever has. If you think you can prove differently, I would be happy to debate that point anywhere, anytime.

Lock him up and throw away the key. If it's good for all the other drug offenders in the country, it's good enough for him.

The only radio hosts that I know are subsidized is NPR. NPR gets "donations" from liberal PAC and the federal government which makes there slanted view on politics just as bad as Rush.

I do agree that Rush is a product of his own hypocracy, but so is most of the left.

Actually they get more money from corporations. They cannot get funding from a PAC. I used to listen, but the stories were slanted to not offend corporate views so much it was boring. You should disabuse yourself of this prejudice.

    Woofer,

    You are correct and incorrect...

NPR does accept money from PAC's, NPR will take any money they can. Since they are not a Federal Agency they can accept donations from anyone willing to give.

You are correct that most of the donations are from corporations.

    From the NPR website.
